The gym has a lot of potential — great location, respectful and focused community, and a welcoming vibe overall. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and maintenance fall far short of expectations. There’s visible dust under benches, in corners, and around equipment. Members already do their part by wiping down machines — the gym just needs to take care of the surrounding environment. Floors, walls, mirrors — these clearly aren’t receiving regular attention. In the women’s locker room, the sauna has been out of service for a long time with no sign of repair, and only one of the toilet stalls locks properly. The entire area feels worn and poorly maintained. Yes, the building is old — but that doesn’t excuse the dust, cobwebs, and neglected fixtures. On rainy days, several machines become unusable because water drips directly from the ceiling onto the equipment and surrounding floor. It’s uncomfortable — sometimes even unsafe — to sit on surfaces that are wet, slimy, or slick. The only “solution” offered seems to be placing a bucket underneath the leak, with no sign of any real effort to fix the issue. This gym is one of the most expensive options in the neighborhood, which is why I chose it — I was looking for an experience that felt enjoyable. It’s disappointing to pay more and still find the most basic standards being overlooked.

The community is great here. It is a pretty busy and tight space. I enjoyed the treadmill, elliptical, and free weights.

Good location with few alternatives around. Can be crowded and on a pricy end for facilities etc.

I had been going to this gym for almost 3 years. There are definitely concerns about the cleanliness as others have mentioned and the space is a little tight, but they have most of the equipment you would typically look for in a gym. HOWEVER, the disrespect I was shown from the manager over my last month is inexcusable. I moved out of the North End and, as such, canceled my membership in March. They tell you upfront that you have to pay for an extra month’s membership after you cancel, but that you can still use the gym during that month. There is also an annual fee that they apparently charge in April. I was charged the monthly fee, as expected, AND the annual fee for the upcoming year staring in April, which does not make sense considering I canceled my membership in March and will not even be a member of the gym for the upcoming year. I can’t tell you if it is explicitly stated in the contract that you are responsible for an annual fee in April if you cancel in March because the manager actively avoided communicating with me for a month. I came in 5 times trying to speak to a manager as I’ve been told he is the only person who could do anything about the charge. 4 times I came in and talked to the staff, who said every time that the manager is unavailable. I left my name and number each time and asked for a call back from the manager to talk through the charges. I never received a call back. Finally, I came in for a 5th time and was told by one of the staff (because the manager was AGAIN not there) that the manager informed him, NOT ME, that I would not be refunded. So, it has been confirmed that he was actively avoiding talking to me about this situation and doesn’t even have the decency to talk to me about it over the phone. This lack of professionalism is baffling, and I may have previously said that you can overlook the negatives of this gym due to the convenience, but now, with their extremely high and continually increasing rates, in addition to the complete lack of respect and what should be common decency from the manager, I would highly recommend looking at other options before committing...

Here in Boston for a business trip and always try to find the good gyms wherever I go. This is a great one with very friendly staff! I was greeted very friendly and was also offered a free workout! Awesome!

The gym is rather small and down in a basement. It has a style of the older era gym which I prefer. Very good equipment and good locker rooms. The cardio equipment is also good with some variety.

The only thing I can complain about is that it is somewhat limited of what equipment is there and that the dumbbells only goes up to 100 pounds. But still enough to throw in a great workout and I will be back tomorrow again, and whenever in Boston I'll be back!

I strongly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to get a good workout with good ol' equipment in a nice cool location! Just don't expect to throw in a strongman workout as the weights are a bit limited, which is also why I reduce one star rating. I'd raise it to 5 if they would add at least 120 pound...
