We have very mixed feelings after our visit – We really wanted to love dining here, based on the amazing menu, pics we saw online from those who dined here before, and it’s a combo of fresh seafood and Italian – But unfortunately, our visit wasn’t that great.
First, we got there, sat down and wanted to order wine to enjoy while reviewing the menu, but we waited 10 mins with no one to check in/great us, so when I saw a manager nearby I asked him for some assistance and then our server appeared a minute later. He was very friendly, not sure what happened in the beginning, but we overlooked that as we proceeded with dinner.
We started with their shrimp scampi and wow, that was the blandest shrimp scampi we’ve ever had! We had to add salt to get some sot of flavor from it, but it hardly had the flavors that make it a loveable dish – such as garlic and lemon… We didn’t taste these at all and for the price, it wasn’t very appetizing looking and flavorless – Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
The entrées we ordered were their swordfish for her and I got their linguine with scallops, shrimp, and broccoli. My linguine dish was very bland as well… not sure what was going on here, but no garlic, no seasonings at all, and I asked for their diavolo sauce and what I got had no heat either. Wife’s sowrfish was totally raw inside. We showed this to the server and he told us it looked like that because this is the season where they get “orange swordfish” but what we were showing was a very obviously piece of raw fish.
He took it back and brought it back to us about 15 mins later cooked to a greater temperature. He agreed that once he got it in the kitchen, he noticed it was raw. But you NEVER HEAT AND RESERVE a food item touched by the customer – that’s gross. As a result, she barely picked at it and it was simply wasted. Poor service! When someone sends back raw food which they’ve already cut into, time to toss it and serve a new one – especially when it’s the kitchen’s fault. Talk about cross contamination.
Anyway – we had a very lackluster visit, which was sad, as we expected to much more from this visit. We love Boston and will be back to visit one of the amazingly incredible restaurants that are there, but this won’t be...
Read moreMy group of 9 were visiting Boston and had done our research and was excited to try this highly rated seafood restaurant; but unfortunately our experience was ruined with the poor level of service and care of our group.
We had reservations for the restaurant at 9:15pm. We were aware the restaurant closes at 10:30 and with our reservation time, we could feel rushed. However, our reservation time would had given us enough time to enjoy our meal if we were seated at our designated time.
We arrive at the restaurant a little early around 9, understanding we’d have to wait a bit at the bar. We were not seated until 9:45; 30 minutes after our reserved time. Apparently, our reserved table was still in use above and beyond the 9:15pm reservation time. While the hostess and bartender were apologetic, it was a horrible experience for a restaurant that was so highly rated.
Once we were seated, our waitress had forgotten to tend to our table several times. She asked if we wanted bread (assuming complimentary bread); yet she forgot to bring it out. When we asked for it, she brought our 3 pieces and said that was what was left for the night. We had asked for Tabasco, the waitress forgot and we had to ask the manager standing nearby. Lastly our waters were never refilled until we asked after closely finishing up. It was like the servers just forgot about our table once they took our orders and brought the food out. (Which made sense since it was the end of the night and the servers were resting, and dining the back.) This was just unfortunate considering they had already made us wait an extra 30 minutes for our table.
The restaurant did not comp us for any drinks or food that we ordered. Although we weren’t expecting it. They did comp us a free calamari appetizer while we waited but it also felt like that was a lure to get us not to leave.
I am very disappointed in the level or service and care the restaurant provided us. Even though the food was good, the service provided just overshadowed the experience considering the fact that we were tourists, who were excited to try out this highly rated restaurant. I will not be recommending this restaurant and will encourage others to...
Read moreWow. What a colossal disappointment of a restaurant. Truly, honestly - the worst dining experience I‘ve had in the city of Boston, and possibly in my entire life.
Our reservation was at 8:30 PM (for 4). We were seated after a short wait, and greeted by our waiter within a minute of sitting down. So far so good. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and the calamari - we just sat down so we needed a few minutes to decide entrees. We waited a good 20-25 minutes for the calamari, and at no point did our waiter stop by to collect our entree orders. In fact, someone else brought out the calamari, before offering it to 3 other tables before asking us “did you guys order this?”
Our waiter stopped by for the second time about 40 minutes into our reservation. We ordered entrees, and asked for some bread. We proceeded to wait another 50 minutes before our waiter stopped by again. Still no entrees in sight!!! We asked if we could get the check and leave (it was 10 PM and nobody was hungry anymore). The waiter argued with us, we pushed back. He then walked away, then came back 30 second later, “you’ve been here an hour and twenty minutes.” Uhhhhh yeah guy, and we still don’t have our dinner!!! He guilted us into staying, saying it’ll only be a few more minutes. When our food came out, it was cold and unappetizing. Tasted like someone pulled it out of the fridge and microwaved it. Oh and by the way, at two points in the night someone came by our table and served us tuna tartare and fish and chips. Just dropped it on our table and scurried away. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE ORDERED, WHERE IS MY ENTREE. Meanwhile we watched a couple next to us order food, the wrong thing was dropped at their table, and the waiter (same as ours) told them they ordered wrong. We also watched several tables around us quickly turn over. Final bill was just over $300. This is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. Waiter’s name on the bill was “Simply Mr. Jack.” Guy wore gym shorts and an Under Armor compression shirt, should’ve known what was gonna happen...
