Vogo Salon — Local services in Boston

been going to Vogo for a few years now. Glory is my stylist - he is quite skillful with his craft, but I appreciate more that he listens to client's wants, and willing to discuss honestly as to what fits the client's style/face shape/etc. also no hard sell on products; only tells you what you need when asked, and leaves at that.

recently did a digital perm after months of hesitation for to cost ($250+). happy that i bit the bullet.

the entire process was nothing but great since I walked in at 4 (and out by 7). i inquired with Glory about the difference between regular perm and digital perm; he explained with expertise and patience, including why it may not have worked on some clients as i referenced other reviews.

after about an hour of sitting with the low-heat machine, i was released from it. another liquid (relaxer? i forgot) was added and left on for another while, then I got to rinse, small trim, and voilà!

i followed direction of not washing my hair for 3 days, everything seems to have worked out. my perm is the type of soft curls - exactly what I want, as if I spent an hour with a curling iron, but without the high heat and damaged hair. a little product could enhance the look, but not always needed. I also like it that the outcome is low maintenance: was advised to put my hair into quick finger-curls then wrap in towel till dry (usually I just sleep on it), and I'm set to go.

almost two months in and my curls are still holding up fine (see pictures for reference). Glory said they should stay until we cut it. but he also advised that I get a trim in a few months' time... which i really don't want to, so we'll see. LoL

If you are one person, then I do not recommend you go, but if you are in multiple groups, you will be treated first. Why would I say that? Because that day I walked in alone, and I asked how long I'd have to wait, and the woman said not long, and there was no one in front of me. It was about ten minutes or more after that, A woman came in with her son, said they were busy and asked how long it would take for them to get their turn, When the woman with her son realized that she would have to wait more than half an hour, she took her son and prepared to go, And the hairdresser was like, "Don't go, don't go, I can get you guys at first.”But the woman with her son left anyway. It’s a clean and nice place with good service. The owner, who believed to be the best and you pay the most, took care of my hair. He looks very devoting and tried his best. But I have to say, it resulted a TERRIBLE and UGLY looking as I expected a professional hair cut. Now I look really ridiculous and ugly and I feel so mad when I look at the mirror. I think it is both the taste and skill that ruined my hair. I showed pictures, but nothing turns out to be similar.

I should have give two stars because of good service. But I think so many 5 stars are misleading...
