I'd been to Blue Man Group three times in the past, spread out over a period of 20 years. Each time wasn't as good as the time before, and this fourth time was definitely my last. The audience takes quite a share of the blame for this, but they're a part of the experience. This last time, my wife & I sat in the "poncho section" (reserved for adventurous Blue Man attendees who are willing to subject themselves to emissions from the stage.) Well, we were seated among way too many annoying kids who had little-to-no interest in their parents' choice of babysitters -- which is exactly what the show was for them. The players seemed to give a very "mail it in" performance based largely on this. They do better (as anyone on a stage does) by feeding off the energy of the crowd. They had nothing to eat but the props of Captain Crunch cereal and those giant marshmallows. The show was tired, weak, and hand all the energy of a hand-cranked radio. Especially if they're going to continue allowing annoying children to attend they really ought to end this show. It's long past its prime. Just let people hang onto the memories of when the show was great, and quit embarrassing the great name of this once-great show. It's time, guys. Sorry..๐คทโโ๏ธ ๐ [Edit: P.S. They should IGNORE people who complain about how "loud" it is. Screw them! This was the first time I went with everything turned down really low -- totally saps any hope of a high-energy show! If it had been louder it might have drowned out all of the...
ย ย ย Read moreSmaller than I remembered but very intimate! I made direct eye ๐๏ธ contact with a Blue ๐ต Man โ๏ธ and I was in the balcony in J section. I haven't seen the Blue Man Group in 23 years. I bought a discounted ticket ๐ซ through Groupon. They will print out the ticket ๐๏ธ at the front window ๐ช of the Playhouse. They will use a metal detector at the door ๐ช but security is very friendly. One told me where I can get a quick bite to eat before the show. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My parking stub from 200 Stuart Street Parking Garage was validated and I saved a lot of $ on parking ๐ ฟ๏ธ! The Blue Man Group had more audience participation than the last time I went. It was an enjoyable show. If you go, you may want to get a seat ๐ช on the floor. If you have photo sensitivity to flashing lights, I wouldn't recommend this show since they use flashing lights. You are allowed to bring your cell ๐ฑ phone but you are not allowed to record โบ๏ธ or have the flash ๐ธ on. Try not to arrive late! The show actually starts five minutes after it's scheduled time. If you are in the front row, you will need a plastic cover. ๐ Hearing protection is provided by the staff. You may want to check out the Blue Man Group online first before visiting to see ๐ if the show is for you. The concert is different from the stage show at...
ย ย ย Read moreI paid for parking ( Ticketmaster) when I purchased my tickets for the show. I purchased tickets in the front middle stage (AA) and I was told by many employees we would in the poncho seating which is what I wanted to experience with my 6 yr old. We decided to take the train in which was easier coming from Marlborough and I requested a refund for the parking pass I purchased, but I was told they are not processing refunds.
When I arrived at theatre I was really disappointed because the last two rows of section AA are not in the poncho/wet zone which is where my seats were..
I spoke to the Usher's and they l basically brushed me off saying there was nothing they could do for me, I asked if I could sit closer if the seats weren't taken, but they said they were sold out.
They don't have snacks besides small bags Frito Lay's chips, and there's no cup holders on any of the seats.
The show itself was amazing, we loved every act and My little guy was so impressed he wanted to go to the next...
