visited this lounge a few years back and don't remember being wowed by it. came by this time due to the convenience of location. the experience didn't change much.
Friday evening: there were a few guests at the bar and few more scattered in the lobby lounge area. sit-in area at the left of the bar seemed unoccupied. bartender seemed busy.
waited at the hostess stand out of courtesy; inquired about sitting at one of the lounge tables just to be sure that they serve past the carpet/non-carpet divide. was informed that it is ok to sit there but one must order at the bar (ie. no table service), which could be due to hotel or legal regulations, so it's no big deal.
drink menu had at least 3-4 pages of wines and beers, but only one page (about 6 items) of mixed drinks -- how is the bartender slammed? not only that, all of the cocktails they offered were mules ('tis the season?). i actually didn't mind it one bit, but friend didn't care for ginger beer.
we approached the bar to order our drinks; friend asked bartender if she could skip the ginger beer. gentlemen was pensive for an entire minute, not sure how to substitute its main ingredient. the other friend suggested to do sprite instead... experience helps, right?
our drinks, at $13, were reeeeeally weak. truth be told, I only tasted something fizzy, that's about it. my basil and strawberry got no muddling (witnessed the guy just threw stuff in there, popped a bottle and poured), thus there was zero flavor except when I ate the actual strawberries. barely even tasted any ginger beer. friend's mule with prosecco (or something sparkling) sans ginger beer was equally tasteless and disappointing.
the ambiance...could use dimmer lighting and slightly bit more, um, "privacy", but i understand it's the lobby of a hotel and we were right at the main passageway. didn't mind guests entering and leaving the hotel, actually, but we were met with occasional "uproars" from the younger crowds, and then an older dude (with his s.o.) commanded us to "cheer up coz you're drinking" in their passing. didn't get a chance to report to him how sad the drinks indeed were.
as said before, came here solely bc it fulfilled our bare minimum needs of the day (get a drink at a place without too much walking). other than that, don't find the...
Read moreThe food is decent enough, but we spent $200 for dinner for 4 with very, very slow service and fine food (not outstanding but not bad). Unfortunately, there was only one server and one bartender on staff for a full house, which meant nothing was getting done in any kind of timely manner. I felt bad for the waitress when we had dinner, as she was definitely trying, but since she was the only server there was no way she could keep up with a full house. We waited over an hour for just drinks. Later in the stay at DoubleTree, we ordered three desserts for room service (3 stars for the hotel- front desk was great, we had a drafty window the engineer only cleaned and my husband actually fixed and a toilet that ran like molasses, but otherwise comfy beds and good room) and they showed up 60 minutes after we placed the order (after we called and asked about it), almost completely melted after having sat under a heat lamp for 45-60 minutes with dairy products. Trust me when I say you don't want to know what cheesecake and Boston cream pie look like when they've sat under a heat lamp for almost an hour. When we showed the front desk, they said they would replace the order. 15 minutes later and it hadn't even been put into the system yet and we completely canceled the order at that point. Would not recommend Wisteria unless you want to experiment with "how long has my food been sitting there" and see what happens. The hotel itself is fine, but the restaurant is not up to...
Read moreStayed at the doubletree for a business trip, so went here 3 times.
2/3 times my food was served cold, which were also the two times were the wait was extremely long, so I assume my food was just hanging out in the kitchen.
I had the burger, it was okay but very dry as there is no sauce in it. I asked and they gave me a little cup on the side of aioli. It was also cold, so that did not help the experience. The fries were good but very salty.
The next time I had the mushroom pasta, that was nice if a little greasy.
Last time I came for breakfast and had the avocado toast on sourdough. The bread was not sourdough, even though that was what it said on the menu. Again it was served cold, bread cold, avocado fridge cold and the egg a little lukewarm in the center.
For a hotel restaurant it is an okay choice if you are not in a hurry and not in the mood for going out.
Staff was nice...
