This is the second time I’ve had to return to the ER in 18 months, both just 2-3 days after a hospital stay where I coded, and for a surgical procedure. I followed protocol, and called my NURSE HOTLINE first. She insisted with my symptoms that I be seen immediately in the ER. I won’t go into all the details except that I was not taken seriously either time. The first time on January 16, 2024, the nurse practitioner removed all her identification before putting me in some kind of family consult room as she tried to kick me out with a prescription for Tamiflu. I was never examined prior to this. Just rudely asked if I wanted a flu/covid test during triage. I tested positive for Type A influenza. Saturday, 05/17/25, diagnosis was not consistent with a chronic condition I’ve had since I was 4 years old. I am 63. It also was NOT the reason I called an ambulance as instructed. Saturday, I was left mostly in a closed room without a call button, and they never even treated the “condition” they diagnosed me with. I was given anti-nausea meds and a little bit of lactated ringers, which the “doctor” said I didn’t have to continue right after they were finally hung two hours after my arrival, and he would discharge me immediately. There was one other patient in the ER when I was brought in by ambulance, and she was transported shortly thereafter with me as the only patient. There was lots of joking and laughing the entire time I was there, with I’m guessing at least 6-7 medical personnel on duty. I just got a test result today showing that they tested me for alcohol. Not only was the test negative, but unreadable because it lacked no info to register on the equipment. I was not told about this test. I love BSW and all my doctors! Any procedures I’ve had to have, have been impeccable and professional with personnel, and from start to finish. However, I will literally have to see the Pearly Gates, before I agree to go to BSW’s Brenham ER again. I complained originally back in 2024, but was just told, “Oh my, identification must be worn at all times.” I will be refiling that complaint as well as one for 5/17/2025...
Read moreMy previous post asked: Why do you have such a horrible ER staff? I was seen today in the ER just after 12:30p 6/8/18. The triage nurse was very rude and did not ask me my medications or pull the foot rests down while pushing me in my wheelchair that she offered. I do not take tramadol on a regular basis and I sat in the ER room for a long time in pain with tears because no one cared except the the CTscan ladies. She was the only one who assisted me and tried to comfort me. She also reminded the nurses that I needed help for the pain. A visitor asked me was I receiving any help because the medical staff was so non caring and rude. Horrible bedside manors. HOWEVER, After returning to the hospital in a horrible state, I must say that the ER staff improved and behaved more compassionate and treated me like I mattered. I must say the nurse Loretta, Deby and one other nurse who really made me feel special after being in the hospital for 2 days waiting for transfer she provided some shower gel for my shower and it made me feel so much better. I don't know her name but she knows who she is on the morning I was transferred to College Station. Her name may have been Kirsten or Christen or Chrystal. On the morning of 7/18/18. Please reward these ladies. I observed them for 3 days. They deserve it. Their care will never be...
Read moreThe emergency room staff were incredible, from the time that we arrived, until the time that we left, just 4 hours later. I briefly explained that it was vitally important to capture my daughters heart rhythm on the EKG machine and the nurse immediately understood where I was coming from and moved quickly to get it started. We were then met by the most amazing doctor, I believe that we’ve ever met, Dr.Steven Parkes! It’s such a shame that he’s only an emergency room doctor and travels from various locations, and Brenham only gets him just several times a month because we would definitely want him to become our family doctor. He interacts with you as if you’re family and you can see it through his eyes that he truly cares about his patients. He brought up some amazing theories and alternatives that we weren’t getting from the “big city” doctors AND “specialist”. He went out of his way, and found a couple of issues that were previously missed by the specialist and gave us hope and answers. He truly went above and beyond for our daughter, and for that we are eternally grateful! Thanks...
