I wish I could give them zero stars. I had them do my wedding cake because I've heard great things about HEB wedding cakes being reasonably priced and still very beautiful. My wedding was planned in a short time span and I'm not familiar with Brenham bakers so I thought, perfect! The employee that I ordered the cake with was great, the cake cost $340 and I paid the whole thing up front. The day of the wedding my husband went to pick it up and it was the most pathetic cake I've ever seen. It was tiny (supposed to feed 136), was lopsided, the middle "pillars" were extremely wobbly and looked ridiculously cheap, and the frosting looked like a toddler ran their finger around it a few times. My husband didn't even want to take the cake but had to show up with something. He ended up buying a cake from the cabinet just to make sure we had enough to feed everyone. When the employee opened the box, she actually said "you paid 340 dollars for this?" When I saw it I honestly wanted to throw it away, I was so embarrassed. They ended up giving us a partial refund but it can't make up for putting a huge flaw in our ONCE IN A LIFETIME WEDDING DAY. And the manager, when talking to him about how the cake looked, was very rude. He made snide comments like, "well, you ordered it plain didn't you?" And, "I'm trying to remember but it was so long ago" (I had a family member contact them the DAY AFTER the wedding and went up there two weeks after, that is not "so long ago" especially considering going on our Honeymoon, Thanksgiving holiday, and from being out of town. When I told him that the first partial refund was not acceptable, because that cake wasn't even worth fifty dollars, much less hundreds, he said, "well I don't know what else you want me to do." Everything else about this store might be fine but whatever you do, do NOT order a wedding...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will start by saying my daughter is an H-E-B partner and has been for over 16 years. With that said we decided to stop at this location on our way back from picking up a puppy that my nephew transported for me at the Houston Airport. It just so happened that this was the day that the weather decided to go totally crazy and drop tornadoes all over the place. After shopping for a few items that my daughter's location doesn't carry we started to head towards Giddings. A few minutes into the final leg of our trip tornado warnings started coming out for the area in front of us. Looking at the green sky and being pelted with sideways rain we decide to turn around and head back to H-E-B for cover, in part because my daughter knows where the safety zones are within an H-E-B store. We arrived back to the stores parking lot and just as I went inside to find a bathroom tornado warnings started going off for Brenham. I ran back out to my truck and got my daughter and the dog carrier with our puppy. We ran into the entryway which has a double door section separating the cart area from the store. Management had converged on the area as well to check the weather. I asked management where the safe zones were and explained that I just picked up the puppy from the airport and I apologized for the need to bring her inside. They were very kind and very professional. I forget the names of the young men who were working that day but they did a good job at getting all the customers out of harms way and moving all of the partners into a safe Zone when needed. We are very grateful to your store for allowing us to take cover with our new puppy. Also we are jealous because you have a lot of the Ready foods like the fried rice for example that my daughter's H-E-B plus doesn't even...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's a smaller HEB than the ones you see in the suburbs, but honestly, most of the time I prefer the smaller footprint. Granted, I mostly go shopping later at night during the week, so usually crowds are not an issue. Unfortunately, during the day when there are more people, the aisles do start to feel more narrow and crowded. The layout is also a little weird, but you get used to it over time. (For example, the dairy and frozen vegetables are located on the other side in the back instead of on the grocery side.) Staff is super friendly and helpful. Even when I accidentally went to the self check-out with more than ten items, the lady wasn't rude or snarky about it. She explained politely and pointed me to the nearest cashier. (I was used to Walmart where it seems like you have to do self checkout 99.9% of the time) The cashier and bagger were great as well! When I explained I didn't know which of the yellow coupons I had clipped to the My HEB barcode in the app, she was understanding and scanned them all after the My HEB barcode just to be safe. Usually I have to tell baggers that there are sodas at the bottom, but the bagger said she would scan the sodas before I even had the last of my other groceries on the belt. Definitely download the app for more savings as well - about every other week or so, HEB will give me a '$5 off $50' or a '$5-$10 off $75' basket coupon which combines with manufacturer coupons and sales! Incredible service and...
