After losing my trusty, beloved fly box (full of flies) in the Tuckaseegee, I stopped here to do some restocking. They were super-friendly, helpful, and very patient! Dale Collins was working that day. Not only did he take his time to tell me how they had been catching fish in the days prior, I handed my TFO fly rod to him because it wasn't spooled or braking correctly. He figured out what the problem was, explained things to me and fixed the problem (I did help with a little of the repair, as best I could). 😏 I will be returning to Bryson City and Tackaseegee Fly Shop will always be a haunt when I'm there! Next time I'll get a guided trip or two from them too! (P.S. Two days later some campers we had met at the Grumpy Bear Campground went tubing with the sole intention of finding my lost fly box. I didn't know this until they surprised me with it after they found it!!)

Visiting Bryson City North Carolina in July and wanted to take my 82 year old Dad fishing. Contacted Tuckaseegee Fly shop and booked a 1/2 day trip. Wasn’t sure what to expect since myself nor my Dad had ever fly fished before. I cannot say enough about how accommodating and nice Anthony our guide was. He took us right to the trout. It was such a fun and relaxing day and we caught alot of trout. We will definitely be back next year! So glad I booked it. My Dad LOVED it as well. Anthony showed us how to fly fish and make it easy to learn for us Floridians lol. Thanks Anthony!!!! We made some great memories that we will always cherish! Amy Wiggins

Visited Bryson City 2 weekends ago for some fly fishing. Although it poured all weekend, Elijah gave us some good tips and suggested a particular black nymph and purple grub that ultimately landed us 5 brookies on the Nantahala lower, all within 2 hours of our departure from town.

This fly shop is advertising their private waters at Thunderstruck Lodge. Although the owner of the property may have given this shop permission it is not legal per the deed. This property is in a remote private residential community. Within the all of the deeds is the “Fishing rights”. It states the property owner has the rights to fish the creeks and river within the community and can have fishing guest but must accompany their fishing guest while fishing. Without the property owner present everyone is trespassing. Their ad also advertises “All guests will receive guided instruction on the full days at the lodge water or surrounding watershed.” This is all private property. Surrounding watershed means trespassing on someone else property. I have contacted the fly shop multiple times explaining to them they have no fishing rights because they are not the owner of record on the deed.

I am an avid fisherman and live in this community. I have no problem with guide services. I was a guide but above all respect for the rights of private property owners is first...

I used this fly shop twice in one week. I feel compelled to write a review because of the outstanding information and assistance I received from both owners....Dale and Bobby about fishing the Tuckaseegee. This past Sunday I arrived at 7:30 and inquired about shuttle information from Dale. He stated, with advance notice he could arrange a shuttle. 15 minutes after opening his fly shop he locked the doors to personally shuttle me. I did not ask for this nor expect this service.

If you haven't stopped in and visited the Tuckaseegee Fly Shop, you owe it to yourself to do so. The shop has most all the needs an avid or beginner might need. I feel obligated to shop there when I visit again. Plus, there's an excellent coffee shop right next...
