I have been a customer at Sundberg's for a while and have had mostly positive experiences. This last week (Saturday November 17, 2018) I had an 8 am appointment for a procedure that should have taken approximately 1 hour. I dropped off my car and walked home so I could take our other vehicle to get tires rotated. I stopped by Sundberg's 1 hour and 20 minutes later, on my way home, to get an update on the car - thinking it would have been done. To my surprise, my car had not even been looked at. When I questioned Larry (manager) about this, he told me that all the bays were full and waiting on parts - they cannot control that aspect of the business and there "was nothing he could do". As a small business owner, myself that is one statement that infuriates me as there is always something that can be done. So, I mentioned that a phone call would have been nice at which point Larry let me know that he was unable to call me as he was so busy. I was surprised at the response - no apologies, but instead he told me that they always call when the car is done. When I asked for a timeline for when it will be done, he could not give me one. I had to be somewhere at 11:00 to umpire softball games for the day but had to find a replacement as I had no idea when I would have a vehicle. I did get the call at 10:15 that the car was done, which tells me that it should have been done by 9:00 am. When I walked over to pick it up, I was hoping for an apology for the lack of communication and the delay in getting to a vehicle that was scheduled to be worked on at 8:00 am. and maybe a discount for the inconvenience. I had to ask Larry if there would be any discount due to the inconvenience this caused me, and Larry gave me $5 off, which I informed him I was not satisfied with that as it cost me $100 in lost income. Larry was less than sympathetic and informed me that I was “disrespectful” and that I “yelled” at him - which I strongly disagree with as I know when I am yelling. Larry could have easily defused this situation by 1. Apologizing for the delay in getting to my vehicle and not calling me to inform me about this delay, 2. State that he will do whatever he can to get the car in as soon as possible to get taken care of, 3. Be proactive and offer a discount – don’t let the customer have to ask for it as that never goes well. Simple customer service is all that was needed in this situation, but Larry was unable to do what I would deem “the right thing” for his long-time customer. I will continue to use them for the time being, but my expectations for decent customer service will be lowered and I will begin looking for other shops to take care...
Read moreThese guys are scam artists; they have false advertisement on a coupon that discount tires gave me to come and get an alignment. First they told me that my lower ball joints needed to be replaced. I told them that I just had it done but they charged me $30 for diagnositics which I paid. I then went back to the shop that did the ball joints and had them warranty it out; brought it back to Sunberg to get the alignment but this time they told me that there’s additional $10 added to the $55 coupon for shop supplies. I then asked them why they didn’t include that in their coupon as full disclosure so one knows what they may get into before committing to any repairs. The guy said and I quote “oh, you want to play that way” he was very mad. I was taken aback by the lack of customer care from this gentleman. He took my vehicle in and after 40 minuets another guy comes out to inform me that there will be additional $54 for “back camber” on top of their advertised $55. At this time I was very angry at the utter waste of my time and the fraudulent way they were trying to milk me out of $150. How does $55 advertised turn into $150. They had the temerity to want to charge another $30 for diagnositic. I then asked them how come this was not picked out after I paid them $30 a few days back for supposedly “diagnosis” on my vehicle? I’m definitely reporting this scam to commerce department and attorney general’s office. I WILL NEVER LET MY WORST...
Read moreAbout 3 hrs into my drive from Portland to Minneapolis I made it to central Washington when an engine error triggered and I couldn't go any higher than 3000 RPMs which meant I could only go up mountains at a max 47 mph. Through 5 states, two of which were mountainous Idaho and Montana. An old lady passed me in a PT Cruiser going up a mountain. Seriously. It sucked. I got into Burnsville and my father was a long-time Sundberg Automotive customer and highly recommended them so I gave them a shot. I explained my situation and that I was on a timeline for getting back to Oregon and Larry assured me that they would be able to work on my 2016 Dodge RAM 1500 and he was pretty confident that they could get it done in just a couple days. Turns out it was a bad crankshaft reluctor wheel and sensor that they were able to replace and get me back on the road with a truck that could actually pass semis, rather than get lapped by semis. Larry and his crew know their stuff, are approachable, honest, friendly, incredibly knowledgable, and very capable. I would give Sundberg's Automotive 10 stars out of 5 if I could. If you want an auto shop you can trust, this...
