Me and my family stopped by here after we went to pick up some ribs from famous Daves for my birthday. We saw the big popcorn machines inside so we were curious - decided to stop in. The man working was very kind, offering free samples of the different popcorn. There was ButterBear: Their normal popcorn with butter; CheesyBear: Popcorn with liquid cheese (very cheesy and tasty); HoneyBear: my favorite, a caramel honey mix, so good warm, straight from the bag; SugarBear: a sort of kettlecorn but has more of a salt flavor so the sweet wasn't overwhelming, very good; HealthyBear: is popcorn with coconut oil and only slightly salty, heard alot of good things about it; and SpecialBear: which is their limited kind that changes from time to time, this time it was white cheddar, which I didn't get to try. Overall the popcorn was fantastic, I never thought there was such a thing as "good or bad" popcorn, but there is, and all the popcorn I've had before has not been even close to Teddy B''s - the puffs are huggee, there are no leftover kernels, no burnt popcorn, no overly soggy or stale popcorn like at the theaters, the inside is fluffy like a cloud, but the outside is just slightly crisp, it's a treat just to eat one, and im no popcorn aficionado! TBs changed my whole outlook on popcorn. They bag it up for you with a band seal bag so you can keep it warm, and its so good warm, especially the Honeybear ;). You can get it in those big tins too (you know, those kinds you get around christmas) so those would make a great gift, with much better popcorn! You could get a tin with each flavor! I love this place, I missed it as soon as ran out of my HoneyBear, plan on heading back soon!
P.S. to owner of Teddy B's, I'd highly recommend considering installing a fresh cotton candy maker in the store, that was one of the reasons we first walked in was to check if you guys were making hot cotton candy, you can't find that stuff anywhere. And the funny part was, we heard a kid saying the same thing when we were leaving! People love fresh cotton candy, so maybe it wouldn't be such a bad business decision to expand to hot cotton candy, and maybe roasted candied pecans, almonds, honey peanuts, etc. You can't find stuff like that anywhere and everyone I talk to around here is dying for it, one guy could run everything still too since it's all just machines, maybe just some maintenance guys, it's a great idea! I'd love to...
Read moreA gentleman first, a businessman second is how I would describe Teddy. I came in during lunch on a random Monday and happened to see a jubilant man enjoying his work and engaging in customers as if everyone was family.
His popcorn is top-notch, I really mean it, and if that doesn't persuade you go in and just see how he or his staff serve you. They never scrape the bottom so you never get random kernels, if he puts in butter he layers it so its' not all on top( I'm looking at you movie theaters), and finally he's never afraid to slap on new gloves to give samples to customers between popcorn brands (to avoid allergies and cross contamination).
How can you beat that? I mean, honestly, I wouldn't care if you could. I'm coming here from now on - just for...
Read moreIt appears that Teddy B's has gone out of business, or at least are no longer at this location. I went there today, and their store is gutted of all equipment and padlocked, with no sign about moving. Their phone number is also out-of-service. Bummer, too, because their popcorn was the best in town. Hope they show up at a new location.
---Updating the review after hearing from the owner. With two locations now (Mall of America & Ridgedale), I'm tickled to find out that my favorite gourmet popcorn place is open again. The only reason I'm not going to five star is that the former location had no sign informing customers of the move and the web site still shows the now closed location with a phone number that is...
