I am so mad at myself for not firing back at the male owner of this store. He’s been cross with me before but you choose your battles and it’s only 2 miles from my home. So, I have let his crotchety ways go unchecked a few times. Last night I went in and asked politely if he had 1/4 pints of a product. ABC keeps these stocked behind the counter. He replied no. That was okay because I saw walking up to the counter they had the product in single shots. I expressed this to him and waited a few seconds when he asked me again what product I wanted. I took a step and pecked with my fingernail to the product I needed as I answered him. He barked, “Don’t touch the glass! Don’t do that!” I’m thinking they must have just cleaned the plexiglass. As he rang me up I said, “I’m sorry if I upset you, I thought you you were asking for me to point it out. It not being real glass I just assumed it was okay to tap it lightly with my fingernail.” Thinking to myself at the time that by tapping lightly with my index nail I wouldn’t leave a print. He quipped. “I’m not upset, I just don’t like people tapping at me. I’m not a Mexican.” I was shocked. I come from a interracial family and people often mistake me for a Puerto Rican, Hispanic or Italian. I said as I took my bag, “Well we don’t want to upset the Mexican Latinos or any race, peace to everyone.” His wife was seated behind the counter somewhere out of view but she had been trying to call him down throughout the whole incident. This couple is not American so she is aware how cruel his remarks were just as he should be. I told myself to let it go, he’s not worth it, you’ll go to jail. as soon as he gave me my receipt I turned on my heel and strode out the door thankful that I’ll never have to go to this racist, cruel business again. This man is disgusting and mean and I’m sure it’s a race thing with him. Little does he know I am an American citizen, born and raised in North Georgia and that’s no way to treat a Southern Peach. Bad service! Overpriced products and ugly attitude on the person in charge!
