I took my mother, who is an older lady, to Forty Winks as her old lingerie store closed and she needed new things. My mother has a strong preference to have someone advise her on fit, and she was nervous about going to a new place.
The woman who worked with her was absolutely lovely--helpful and reassuring, but also showed great good manners and respect for my mother. I have noted to my dismay that people will often speak condescendingly to older folks, but this salesperson was very practical and professional, addressing my mother directly as a grown woman and making recommendations and suggestions regarding fit. My mother found two good options and is happy with her purchases.
The two ladies working at the store also made themselves available as we made our way down the stairs, since it had begun to rain and we were concerned it would be slippery.
Two things to be aware of: there is a set of outdoor stairs to get into or out of the shop, so if mobility is a concern it may be worth calling ahead to see if there's an elevator in back of the building. Also, the shop isn't cheap. However, for something a person is going to wear very regularly, and will have a significant impact on the person's comfort, it seems like a...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I am a 22 year old with very high standards for my bras. I have a difficult cup size, and lately I've been having back problems for wearing the incorrect size (32DD). Rachel had me show her my current bra, told me exactly what was wrong with it, and brought me 20+ bras until I found the perfect fit. She was in no way pushy, she even brought me bras that were 50% off on clearance. Although my friend suggested this place and said it was great, I didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised.
This boutique also offers custom orders and alterations. However, they had my very difficult size in stock, which ended up being a 28H. I didn't even know that size existed, and they had it in stock. I would not have expected anyone to carry such an odd size.
This is the first time in my life I have a 100% supportive bra, and the best part is these bras are actually adorable, flattering, and feminine, yet fit for every day wear. Most bras are from $60-$100 full price, which is what I expected. I ended up getting two bras for $90 and signed up on their client list so they will call me when something new comes in my odd size. As long as I live in Boston, I will not be shopping anywhere else for bras...
Read moreI came here for a long time, as the people working are always incredible and they have some really gorgeous pieces. However, it was only when I went to a different store that I realized that they had sized me wrong multiple times. When I went to Forty Winks to get resized, I knew the bra I was wearing was too big and told the sales associate that, but their fit solution was to size me up in the band. I almost purchased 2 expensive bras that were incorrectly fitted. The fit issues I came into the store to solve were a result of me needing a smaller band and larger cup, and that was very easy to figure out once my band was actually measured with a measuring tape. The sales associates here are really wonderful, which is why I'm still giving 3 stars, but I just think they were probably trained incorrectly. I really hope that Forty Winks eventually learns how to correctly size people, and especially how to size people with larger cup sizes. One of their main selling points is inclusivity, but I think anyone larger than a DD would be outside of the store's knowledge base. Great place for smaller-busted...
