Canaveral Lighthouse Tour — Local services in Cape Canaveral

I went on this tour with my 4 girls ages 19-23. I scheduled it for the morning of our last day in Florida, so as you can imagine we were rushed getting out of the hotel and to the tour by 8:30am. In fact, we were about 5 minutes late, but I called ahead and explained the situation and it was fine. So then you can imagine how badly I felt when we were stuck on the drawbridge while it opened for a passing boat, because I knew had we been on time we would not have had this delay. However, I think in the end it worked out because we serendipitously were able to see the Space X booster for upcoming launch being transferred right past us on the road we were driving on... had to pull over but we were able to get out of the van and take great photos as it was hauled by! What a great experience for all of us... and since it was only for a few minutes, I’m thinking had we been on time we might have missed it ( not that I want that to be my girls’ MO).

We were also emailed great photos of our group and a shot of us as a family which we all loved looking at, especially since my one daughter is standing there with real “attitude”, as her sisters told her. The tour was great from start to finish and well worth getting up and out early. We had toured the KSC a few days earlier and were able to build on what we had learned there and came away with a great experience.

Tour leaders are funny and kept everyone engaged! They really know their stuff....

My family (4) booked a trip Canaveral Tour while on vacation in late June 2021. We were supposed to go early in the week, but due to a delay in the Space X launch, our slot was cancelled. Shelley reached out to us and offered us a tour on Friday which is normally a day they don’t do tours. The tour was wonderful and Shelley is very knowledgeable and does a terrific job guiding us on the tour. The volunteers at the lighthouse came in on Friday just for our tour. They were great and knowledgeable.

We even were able to go into Hangar C to see the recently renovated rocket exhibit on the Air Force base. It was not open to the public yet, but our son wanted a photo in front of the hangar and the director came out and offered us a chance to see the updated exhibit. So much history!

We toured several of the original rocker launch sites and saw the Mercury 7 memorial on base. In addition, we were able to tour one of the original “block houses” used a mission control for some of the early rocket launches.

We were able to take photos of the recent Space X booster from the recent launch, Blue Origins’ facility and several others.

This tour is better than Kennedy Space Center in my opinion.
