Only writing a review to set visitors' expectations. If this is your local gym, then it probably is worth it to you. I came on an August evening around 6:30pm and there were two climbers and two employees. Usually when it's that close to closing, gyms give you a deal or let you in for free, but not the case this time. It cost $18 + $2 for chalk and no student discounts. Usually I feel like it would still be worth it, but all of the holds were so dirty it was worse than climbing outside. Some routes didn't have starts or endings, seems like they were just relics of old routes just still up there. The grading system is by color so boundaries between grades is blended. I'm not a huge fan of that, but it was extra confusing because the colors for the grades don't match the color of the holds for the route - not really mentally stimulating in the right way. Upstairs there is a loft with workout supplies, but only enough space for one person to comfortably exercise at a time. The gal working downstairs had good taco recommendations and another climber was really sweet to talk to, but the climbing portion of this gym is lackluster and needs some hold cleaning and new...
Read moreI'm a member, I go climbing 3 times a week. This is one of their smaller locations -they recently opened a new spot in Oceanside with a LOT of space. But I've made my little community here. Climbers and staff alike are super friendly, if you ask for help they'll help you out. The staff here are knowledgeable about climbing and everyone just wants to have a good time. Parking can be difficult sometimes, thee are dance studios next door and a LOT of parents waiting and blocking space when dance class is ending, but if you have to walk a bit farther it's still not too far. But the flip side is sometimes you show up and it's empty. Open hours are 11 AM to 9 PM, then as a member you get 24 hour access. Which is another huge perk. I love the opportunity to climb early in the morning or late at night depending on...
Read moreFirst time at this Vital location was this past Sunday and my husband and I enjoyed this gym -- the routes were fun and offered challenges. We recently joined in on my brother-in-law's family plan and got our annual membership on Black Friday to the Vital gyms (great deal and very excited about our new memberships!). The staff are friendly and all locations are enjoyable for climbing -- I'm comfortable with v2 and working on v3; my husband is v4-6; and my brother and sister-in-laws are v5-8. All the Vital locations are welcoming to dogs and my in-laws bring their toddler -- we always have a good time. There's routes for all ranges of climbers -- beginner to expert. Highly...
