This used to be my family's preferred hotel. Unless management and corporate start caring about the experience at this hotel, I am afraid it will not be one we try to avoid.||||First, I have learned the pool will now be permanently closed. In some booking engines, the pool still shows up as an amenity, but after numerous inquiries, I was finally told by an employee that there is a problem with the roof and plumbing so it will be turned into meeting space. ||||I was originally told, for the last couple years in fact, that it was closed due to Covid but would reopen. It will not. If you family is like mine and pool is at the top of a list, then know this Residence Inn won't have one.||||The rooms have been steadily declining, but this trip was the absolute worst in terms of room quality.||||The first room we were put into had a non-functioning A/C unit. July in IL, one needs cold air, not damp, stagnant air. It was also dirty, and lacking in shampoo or soap. Not sure how long that room had been forgotten. ||||We were told that there were no more rooms available, despite having arrived around 5pm on a Thursday. I was told that the maintenance man onsite was leaving for the day, so if it couldn't be fixed before he left, someone would check on it on Monday. This was not acceptable to us.||||Then a wheelchair accessible room was found, and it did have air, but it was in dire need of a refurbishment. I do have pictures of broken items, stains in the tub, rust from the assistance chair in the tub, etc. I took pictures, if management ever wants to see them (they have yet to contact me, though I was told I would receive a call).||||We had a wedding rehearsal and dinner to get to though, so we just took the room and left. ||||The beds need new mattresses. Immediately. Sofa bed was horrible, and we had to take extra pillows and put them under the mattress on the sofa bed for any semblance of cushioning.||||Breakfast was better than during Covid, but it was still not as good as it had been before Covid. I was told this was still due to Covid, but I have recently stayed at other Residence Inns (and Hilton/Hyatt branded kitchen suite hotels) and they have had fresher items than this Residence Inn. I am guessing that the management is trying to cut costs.||||I will say that the staff was always pleasant. They were also understanding and apologetic of the shortcomings at this Residence Inn. ||||I was offered a few Marriott points when I checked out, for my troubles. I declined, as this was a cash stay and the points offered would not cover even a half day at any Marriot property. Instead, I was told, by the manager on the morning we checked out, that the person I needed to speak with regarding our stay was on vacation, but that person would call me upon return. I have yet to receive a call. It has been about 4 weeks. ||||Such a disappointing stay. And it used to be a Residence...

I came to town for my dad's celebration of life with my husband and three||sons. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. Upon arrival, I was told that the||unit we were staying in had a tv missing from one of the bedrooms. I was super disappointed because I was traveling with 2 teenagers and a toddler.||I knew that we all needed our own space and television. I expressed my||disappointment and was given a small discount and some bonus points. I||asked to forgo the discounts and go into a different room, there were no||other available rooms. Ugh, we just drove 15 hours from North Carolina and were stuck.||||Entering the room, WOW, it was completely unacceptable in cleanliness and wear. I have attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. The carpets were disgusting and COVERED in gross stains which made it difficult to keep my toddler off the ground! One of the beds had a torn bed skirt and||the furniture was worn and gross. (pictures are attached). The bathtubs||were horribly stained. We felt we needed to be cautious of where we||touched, sat down and did not take off our shoes.||||Additionally, Illinois law prohibits smoking within 15 feet of doors,||windows and ventilation. The side door closest to our room was unsecure||(unacceptable), no key needed to enter. Outside the door was a commercial||ashtray that was being used by 4-5, shirtless, shoeless, men that stood at||the door and sat in the bed of their pick-up truck, all less than 15 feet||from the door (usually 1-2 feet), smoking and drinking beer. Notified||front desk on first encounter on first day. There was no follow up from||staff to fix this situation and we walked through their smoke and||literally had to push them aside to exit the building at least a twice a||day.||||This experience was horrible. I am upset that I was not notified of the||problem with the television before I arrived, allowing me the option to||try and find another room. I am so upset about the shape of the room and||would have demanded another room if I hadn't already known that there was||nothing else available. And the smoking problem, well your staff should be aware of the grounds and should have enforced this issue on their own. Instead, we had to notify them of the issue and then they still did not correct it.||Response from property was that they are about remodel and I should be happy knowing that!!! They acknowledged everything I said to be true but offered no refund. ||You have...

This was our first time staying at this hotel. We were warmly greeted by a young lady at the desk. She told us about the grab n go free breakfast that is offered from 6a-9a which is a plus nowadays even if it isn't a full service pancakes, eggs type breakfast. The room was a major surprise in and of itself. We were not expecting the room to have a small kitchenette (electric stove, microwave, fridge, sink, dishwasher and even dishes to use). It was also great to see that there was a separate area sectioned off to make a living room area complete with a couch. We definitely look forward to coming back to this hotel in the future. The only reason they did not receive a full 5 star rating is due to the fact that they have signage outside (before entering), at the front desk and at the elevator (refer to posted pictures) that state you MUST wear a mask due to COVID-19 and also the Department of Public Health and we noted a number of guests not wearing any. I totally understand why the hotel allow guests to be without the masks because quite frankly they are the hotel's cash cow. Some guests wore masks and some did not. Other than that, this hotel has excellent customer service and we recommend you check them out and stay awhile.

My wife and I, both loyal Bonvoy members, are absolutely appalled by the dismal state of our recent anniversary stay at your residence. Our room was completely unacceptable, with no shower curtains, no phone cord, and shower heads in both bedrooms in disrepair. To add insult to injury, the bed sheets were stained, adding to the unhygienic conditions. To top it off, we had to walk to the Courtyard Marriott across the street just to access gym facilities, only to be subjected to an interrogation about our guest status despite presenting a paper coupon. This is absolutely inexcusable and an utter disgrace to the Marriott brand. Our anniversary was completely ruined by this experience. This level of service is absolutely unacceptable and we expect a prompt and thorough resolution to this matter."

What a dump! Nice enough people but come on! I guess since they're getting ready to renovate, they don't bother cleaning any more or replacing broken stuff. My shoe was so stuck on the floor that it almost came off in the breakfast area. The couch had no cushion left. The wifi was literally 56kbps. The front desk lady said that the manager would call me, but it's been 4 days. Never heard from her. Oh, and by the way, if you want to break off your luggage wheels, just drag your bag over the cobblestone entry to the front door. Nice way to treat customers. Over 450 nights in a Marriott and this was the worst.
