I’m writing this in hopes an office manager will see this. Son has had several visits, was told 2 visits ago Tonsils and Adenoids needed to be removed. Husband and I have shared taking my son to visits, husband is not in the medical field but I am. Called today to speak to a nurse and was told you cannot call and speak to a nurse. That the parent who comes to the visit should be able to regurgitate what was said at the visit. Again, husband is not in the medical field... I had questions that I could not speak to a clinical staff with. Husband was not given any sort of clinical summary to be able to tell me what was said, diagnoses, etc. my son is being put on another antibiotic after several others not working. He has not eaten in 4 days because his tonsils are so huge his throat hurts. Was told today he needed a sleep study in order for the tonsils removal... this was never mentioned before. There was a plan set out by the Dr and none of our visits have followed this plan. I would have already had the sleep study completed had any of this been discussed beforehand. Now we have to have sleep study, then pre op before anything can be done. I feel like my sons care was poorly planned and was not executed. And to top it off, you cannot even speak to a medical staff about your child’s visit. Heaven forbid a grandparent or guardian have to take someone to a visit and you cannot even call and talk or ask questions about it. Usually pleased with this place but they have failed my son by not communicating and follow through with what they...
Read moreBrought my 17y son here for repeat strept infections, two bouts of tonsillitis and congestion that is year round. He looked up his nose and said he has allergies. I was concerned that his adenoids had grown back. He shut me down immediately stating it rarely happens. He said they will not do a tonsillectomy until he has 7 or 8 strept infections. He said the procedure is very painful and the risks of post op bleeding can be complicated. We took him to another ENT for a second opinion. They did a scope procedure right in the office - the doctor said she couldn’t even get the scope down the right side of his nose due to a severe deviated septum. When she looked on the other side she said his adenoids were huge and did Infact grow back . Tonsils were asymmetrical . They then were able to look up Pharmacy info to see how many antibiotics he has been on in the past 12 months. They really did a great job assessing, and investigating as well as including me in decisions regarding my son’s care. I didn’t get anything but two nasal sprays and told to come back in three weeks. We left feeling defeated and felt as though Dr Harper didn’t want to help us at all. Now I will say his nurse was very welcoming and really friendly. Needless to say his second opinion told us that he will need a tonsillectomy Adenoidectomy and a septoplasty. I’m so glad we went for a second opinion!!!! Stay clear of...
Read moreVisited today with my autistic son and younger 4yo son who is on the spectrum as well. We met with Dr. Harper last week who seemed nice. This week he wanted to see my eldest son to f/u & swab him for strep. HORRIBLE experience with this doctor. He wouldn't do the swab. Seemed like he couldn't be bothered. I probably should've prefaced this with the fact that I worked as a CMA at Wellstar ENT for many years and I have never met a doctor who was that incompetent. My son is nine years old. He gets swabbed all the time. Urgent care and his pediatric office do this often. Dr. Harper had two openings to get the swab to the back of the throat and do a figure 8 (just basic swab) and seemed flustered so didn't do it. He just couldn't be bothered. I offered to do it myself and he brushed me off. (l've swabbed him at other offices). He also yelled at my 4 year old child. I thought he SEEMED nice but l've worked with many doctors throughout the years and Dr. Harper seems young and arrogant. I would not let him treat my child or family member. So BEWARE, he's very charming but obviously ill equipped. The director called me after the "incident" to apologize or appoint us with another doctor but didn't seem too sincere. Would NOT recommend this office. I recommend going elsewhere. WellStar has great doctors who are...
