I ordered Trex decking online for a deck I was building on Lake Wedowee. The website said I would get a call back from the Carrollton store to schedule delivery within 48 hours. 48 hours go by. No call. Red flag #1.
I call the store, spoke with a very polite young woman who scheduled the delivery for 2/10/21. I paid extra for a 2 hour window in which it would be delivered. On the day of the scheduled delivery, my buddy and I take a day off work, drive 2 hours, get to the job site, only to get a phone call from the store asking to reschedule. (They apparently didn’t account for the physical size of the order and needed more space on the truck.) Red flag #2.
I’m annoyed, but hey, no big deal. I speak with a very responsive young woman who helps me reschedule the delivery to Friday 2/12/21. But this time, she can’t give me a time window. I’ll need to be there all day. Another day off for 2 working adults, another 2 hour drive. Early morning drive from Atlanta to get there by 8:00. Noon rolls around. No delivery. I call the store to make sure that the delivery is happening. A very polite young man tells me it is DEFINITELY happening today. So we wait, albeit impatiently.
Huge surprise: They never come. Red flag #3.
I give up. This morning, I called the Carrollton store to cancel the order. They offer to reschedule the delivery. (HA!) On the phone, I’m told by a very polite young man that I can cancel the order, but they can’t charge it back to the card I ordered with. They can try to process a check refund, but that would probably take a few weeks. The only way, they say, to refund the money to my card is to drive to Carrollton. Keep in mind: I live 60 miles away. I have never set foot in this particular store. I ordered this online with a credit card, paid for my 2-hour delivery window via credit card on the phone, but I’m being asked to drive to the store to get my money back. Red flag #4
So at this point, between my buddies and I, they have wasted 40 man-hours that would have been spent either at work or at home with our kids. Home Depot can refund my money, but there is really no way to make me whole with the time lost.
Over the years, I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars at Home Depot. It has generally been my preferred hardware store. It’s slightly cheaper than my local hardware store, and they have everything.
But their slightly cheaper prices can’t make up for 40 hours lost. Do yourself a favor on large orders, and buy them through your local hardware store or through Ace, which is franchised and owned locally. Like Home Depot, your local hardware store has very polite associates, but unlike Home Depot, there is no large corporate structure to insulate their employees from accountability in the event that you do not receive the goods or service you...
Read moreI frequent Home Depot. I was in the Hardware Isle trying to find what I needed. There was a Young Boy working on the Isle off and On. Not one person was there in the Isle while I was there. A lady comes in and I guess wanted something that they needed a forklift to get it. So instead of asking me politely "Excuse Me Sir, do You mind leaving the Isle for a minute, I have to get something down for someone and We have to use the Fork lift?", He instead, Closes off the ends without saying anything to me then asks me if I am almost finished then starts hovering over me! I tell him "No, I'm still Looking", and He just keeps hovering. Not once did he ask me politely to do anything. I was there first, and I told him to get away from Me! I don't like people getting to close and it could cause you to get hurt! Especially after I tell You directly to get away from Me! You never get up on people period, unless Your looking for a bad time! Obviously People who work in the Stores Now Days forget Where their Paycheck comes from! It is not the Store that You are Employed at it is from the Customers who Purchase Items from that Business! You and the Store work for the Customers! There is a way to approach people and ask for what you need. Not to hover and annoy! Keep Your Distance as well! Ask me Once if I need help and if I say no, then leave. If I need help I will come find You. Did You forget about First Come First Serve?! It's still a Thing You know?! I let myself get Angry, and I should have probably been a little calmer and I was at first but ya pissed me off by the way You handled it! There is no etiquette anymore! No respect! If I can help it I will be avoiding this store from here on out! I will not purchase anything from this establishment again unless it is absolutely necessary. I don't see that being the case and I will also notify all of my Veteran Brothers and Sisters about Home Depot and my Experience! It is not Just Home Depot, it is almost all stores these days! Sick...
Read moreI purchase a Worldpool Refrigerator and bought the 5 year warranty from Home Depot. About a 1 1/2 later condensation starting building up on the top of the gasket on the freezer drawer. Tech came out in June 28, 2017. He tried but could not fix. Then two more techs came out twice in July and all had different opinions but no fix. I called again and another tech came out and was to put on a new gasket but he said he could not install because gasket was made into door. This repair company said they could not come out since they stop working on Worldpool Refrigerators. So, I called the Asurion (administrator of Home Depot Repair), they got an appointment with Mr. Appliance out of Douglasville, GA. Their repair tech came out and was baffled but said they would order new French doors (costing $800 and $400) ... this was on August 11, 2017. Mr. Appliance ordered the doors but wrong color on 8-22-17. I have not heard from them so I called today 9-20-17 and Mr. Appliance said the doors had to be manufactured and did not have a date for me. During August, I called the Home Depot Store talked with Wayne and he tried to help but just referred me back to Asurion. I've tried to be patient but it has been a nightmare. Home Depot could help but they are just passing the buck. To summarize ... I've had 4 techs out to repair with no results, I've called HD store with no results, and now the repair company Mr. Appliance just says they don't know when the doors will come in. On another note, I went to HD store and showed the assistant manager, Wayne, the same model on the floor and it had the same condensation as mine at home. This is a manufacturer defect.
Do not purchase Worldpool...
