I want to love this store I really do but after my second shopping experience here and having a similar experience both times - I won’t be back. My family drove out to Cedar Key to spend money in the area because we know how the hurricane has affected the area and we want to support how we can. Last year we came to this store to buy some shirts and trinkets to take back home after vacation. The first time this happened, I thought well they just have extra security with their staff even though the experience made me uneasy then as well but it happened again today. I was completely stalked the entire time, like I was a harden criminal. I mean stalked!! I couldn’t enjoy my shopping experience at all. The exact scenario happened as last time, someone comes up to me and ask if they can take my items that I have already picked out to the counter while I shop - of course, no problem as it frees up my hands to look for other items, no big deal. Well then they come back and become your personal hawk. Just as last time she followed me everywhere and watched every single move I made as if I was going to steal something! I have never in all my years of living ever stole anything but they made me feel like I was doing something wrong. She would not leave us alone & was so close it was uncomfortable at times. Last time I brushed it off and I honestly started to leave today without buying a single thing, but I didn’t as I needed a new Cedar Key shirt and this store was really the only option in the area left. So, I paid for my close to $100 worth of items and washed my hands of this place. Today we specifically drove 2.5 hours to support these local businesses and this one treated me and my 8 year old daughter like we were criminals. I won’t be back. At least not to this store, they have lost our support and business. I understand protecting your items and needing to watch those who truly look like they will steal from you but I was with my husband and small daughter, and just innocently browsing for things I would like to purchase. I have never been made to feel so untrustworthy in all my life. If you have problems with your customers, invest in better security cameras and stop harassing your...
Read moreUnlike other tourist trade gift shops, the Dilly Dally really does have unique apparel and nick knacks that nicely characterize the beachy feel of Cedar Key but stay several steps above typical tourist trinkets in quality and design. They have a large selection of super nice tee shirts, some of standard fair, but the bulk with artful, unique designs. The selection of women's tops, skirts, shorts, and accessories is extensive and again, above average for a tourist gift shop. Two years ago when we visited we purchased a really unique mermaid print. This time we left with several apparel purchases. Store is a little close quarters as is common for tourist shops, but navigation is a lot easier than the shops just up the street. This is a shop you don't mind spending some time in. Staff is super pleasant and we found ourselves in pleasant conversation even with the young man sweeping the floors. We recommend this...
Read moreI had a very strange experience in this store. After having dinner my husband and I stopped in this shop to look around. A women greeted us immediately, said hello and said to let her know if we need any help. We said hello back and thank you. This women proceeded to stand there and stare at us. It felt very uncomfortable and awkward so I walked to a different part of the store. A few minutes later I go back over to that section to look around and the same women gets inches from my face and says in a very nasty tone “ DO YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING ON” considering I hadn’t even had a second to look at anything I said NO I’m just looking. Very nastily the women says “ OH ALRIGHT” I walked away immediately, told my husband to put the stuff back he was intending on buying and we left. I’ll never enter that...
