This place is great. It's the best thing about central Florida. Sherry and Tom and their staff are really friendly and helpful. Call ahead in the morning and they will let you know if the weather is right. We've been going there for years whenever we're in the area. It's really the only place near Gainesville that has warm calm ocean waters. Each island has its own different kind of beach, flora and fauna. We usually rent for 2-3 hours and have a great time. Cedar Key has a microclimate, that is usually sunnier than inland, so when it's dreary in Central Florida, you can pretend to be in the Carribean at Cedar Key on one of the islands, usually with no one else around.
