Very disorganized and inattentive process from start to finish.
I had a wedding to attend on Saturday, 10/11. I was fitted for my suit in August and told to return three days before the event for a final fitting. During my August fitting (which I had booked online), I arrived at the store and informed the associate that I had an appointment. Instead of being helped promptly, I was met with confusion. Several walk-in customers were being assisted ahead of those with appointments, making the online reservation system essentially pointless.
When it was finally my turn, the associate seemed disinterested and rushed through the fitting, which ended up causing problems later at pick-up.
My scheduled pick-up date was Wednesday, 10/8. In hindsight, it would make much more sense for Men’s Wearhouse to offer earlier pick-up dates or flexible options to avoid last-minute issues. Because I had an out-of-state work trip, I could not pick up my rental until Thursday evening after my return flight.
That is when the real trouble began. Everything fit below expectations. The pants were a little too large, which I managed with my own suspenders, the coat fit tight around the arms, and even one of the associates at pickup said, “This looks a little too short.” The shoes and dress shirt were fine. Everything was within reason, not enough to complain about or make major adjustments, but still annoying given the timing and lack of attention. The vest, however, was significantly too small, and I am thankful I did not have any of the other items redone given the disaster that followed.
The original store, where I first came to pick up the rental, told me they could overnight a correctly sized vest to a closer location about 45 minutes from the wedding venue so I could pick it up at 10 AM on Saturday, the morning of the event. Since photos were scheduled for 11:30 AM, it was already a tight timeline. I arrived at the new store at 10 AM only to be told the vest had never been shipped there and was still set to be sent to the original store 1.5 hours away. At that point, I asked if there was any vest I could purchase, but they had none available.
I ended up wasting nearly two hours driving back and forth on the morning of the wedding, all because of miscommunication and poor follow-through after being assured the issue had been handled.
Afterward, I contacted the original store to confirm I would not be charged for a vest I never received, and I also spoke directly with an associate when returning the rental the next day to make sure the issue was documented. Given the level of disorganization I experienced, I am still concerned that I might be charged for an item I never received.
Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating, poorly managed, and far below the level of professionalism one would expect for a formal event...
Read moreI arrived for my fitting prior to my son's upcoming wedding . I arrived to a filthy store . It was in the same condition when I was measured on Aug 5th. Absolutely filthy. I have photos I will be sharing with the regional manager. I asked if the store is ever cleaned and the employee said customers have been in . Store opens at 10:00am and I arrive at noon to 1 customer on a Tuesday. My rental suit trousers were both extremely short with one leg an inch shorter than the other. When I came out of fitting room the employee said " looks good" . I looked at him. He then admitted to the poor appearance. I was measured on Aug. 5 and suit was not delivered until Sept. 30 ., just 2 days before the event. Everyone else received their suits over 1week prior to me. I now had to scramble. I was told I would have to come back the next day to have tailoring. I asked to speak to the Iowa City store and was told by the CR employee they did not have a tailor available. I insisted they give me Iowa City MW #. I dialed right then in the CR store. I spoke to the Iowa City manager Zach, who was very helpful and said that a tailor is available . Cedar Rapids Manager Andrew arrived and I asked him why the run around and if he ever ran a vacuum over the floor? He couldn't care less . The day I was being measured he argued with a customer who was trying to fit clothing for his son. The customer commented to my wife and I on Andrew's condescending comments. This guy should be terminated from this management position. Your Iowa City manager took care of things expeditiously however I had to drive 1 hour one way out of my way. Read moreI have a retail background, so I understand how staff can be either new or under-trained as well as short staffed. So I try to give the benefit to the store. I am writing because of a recent transaction that, on top of past issues, is upsetting to me. My son and I came in approximately 1 month ago to get measured for his tuxedo for prom. We waited patiently and then got measured and ordered a black shirt with a green paisley vest. My son came in on 4/23/19 to see if tuxedo was in (we did not receive a phone call) it was he paid remaining and then looked at tuxedo. He had a white shirt and a turq. paisley vest. Not what we ordered. They tried telling my son that is what he ordered. WE DIDN'T. So then he was told if we reorder we would get it by Friday at the latest, that was fine. We were also told that the green paisley vest is not the front of the vest its the inside, so its not even available!. So now he had to change his vest color completely, so my son left to go get his girlfriends dress so it would match. When he gets back in they seem to NOT be able to help him at all anymore , they are too busy! They weren't busy to take our money but they are too busy to give us what we paid ( ALOT OF MONEY) for. After a couple hours they finally just write down the number to the vest and tie and the black shirt, and tell us it might be here Saturday. Saturday is PROM. They were not apologetic at all about there mix up or us waiting. Unfortunately I do not know why I continue to give them my business.
