!!!! PLEASE READ !!!! I went to Jos. A with a GROUP NUMBER to buy a suit for my brother's wedding. A group number is a number they plug into their system that tells them all details about the suit to be purchased (i.e color, style, brand, etc). Should be nearly impossible to mess up the suit. I get measured and they begin to tailor the suit, I leave the store. (this was my 1st trip to Jos A).
A few days later I go to pick up the suit, it is tailored for me, fits nicely and I go home. (this was my 2nd trip to Jos A).
After arriving home, two days later I text my brother about the suit, etc. Come to find, he says the suit is a BLACK suit. My suit is blue. And I mean BLUE. Not black. I go back to Jos A and tell them the issue. They look up the group number once again and tell me yes the suit should be black. (....? what?). They apologize, tell me the correct suit I need (the black suit) is not in stock, they are going to rush-order it so that it arrives in 2 days, I will need to come back once again for tailoring of the black suit. I go back home. (this was my 3rd trip to Jos A).
Two days later as expected they call me telling me the suit has arrived, I may come in for tailoring. I go to Jos A, they grab a suit jacket and want to tailor it. I ask them about the pants. They look confused and ask me "you didn't get your pants already?". As you can imagine by this point their response did not surprise me, and was mildly expected. I explain to them what has been happening, they go to their computer, look up the order, etc and say the pants should be here but they cannot find them. They go into the back to look, etc, they cannot find them anywhere. They tailor my jacket for me, and once again rush-order the pants so the pants arrive in 2 days. I will need to come back to get tailored for the pants and pick up my tailored jacket. (this was my 4th trip to Jos A).
Again....2 days later they call me and I come in to get the pants tailored and pick up my jacket. Low and behold they have the pants!!! And get this....get this - they were black!! Just like the group number had said several weeks prior. Amazing. Color wheel enthusiasts. I get my jacket and they tailor the pants and I leave (this was my 5th trip to Jos A).
Yes...like a Disney movie there is a happy ending, I go to Jos A 1 day later and my pants are tailored. I pick them up. (this was my 6th and final trip to Jos A).
Here's the kicker: they did not give me anything for free aside from tailoring. They did not cover any costs aside from tailoring. I paid IN FULL for the suit. The black suit was more expensive than the original blue suit. They did not give me anything discounted, and they did not price match the black suit to match the blue suit. I ended up paying more throughout this entire process.
Of course...feel free to shop here, but don't forget this post when you're standing around for 15 minutes waiting for service, or something goes wrong with your purchases. Keep in mind, this entire story was for ONE SUIT. A jacket, 1 pair of pants. Imagine if you were to order 3 suits, etc.
Jos A, I will of course not be back, and I will be spreading this story anywhere and everywhere I can, you've earned it. I kept every single receipt of all 6...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOver the course of 10 or so days of back and forth emails with a customer service representative I was finally offered a fair refund on my purchase.
My only question is why did it have to be this hard to get it right, I think most people would have given up and just accepted they were getting taken.
Either way I'm glad someone was willing to take care of the issue at the end of the day. Had it been easier to resolve i would have posted 4 stars and with how hard getting my pricing issue resolved was I debated going 2 stars.
Original 1 star review:
Not at all impressed. Went in to get fit for a suit for my sisters wedding I ordered a few weeks back. I bring up that their price point is about $100 higher than my siblings are paying at another jos a bank MN location. I get nothing but the run around from the workers for price discrepancy. In addition Im pretty sure I was never offered a custom liner choice for my custom suit but am told I picked a standard liner. (Possible, however judging by the way they are handling everything else I think they missed it)
They definitely missed that the suit package included a vest. Therefore one was not ordered. Luckily my brother sent a picture of his suit he just picked up. Had I not seen there was a vest I would have shown up to the wedding without one!!
Then they claim I owe another $80 to get the vestordered, when im told by the groom its supposed to be included in the package suit price.
They don't care to listen to what the groom tells me was included for the suit, they also didnt care to talk to him. They won't look at the reciepts of my brothers suits prices (3 brothers all got their same suit package for over $175 less). They are fast to say the issue is the store who made the initial deal for the wedding is out of business, and the notes in the computer are vague for what was included with the package. They then make it seem as if thats my fault, and the price they are charging is right.
Whats so hard about saying lets look at the reciepts you have from your brothers purchases, lets call the MN store that is putting those suits together, lets talk to the groom and see what was included, lets make this right. Who's fault is it that a Jos A Bank store that made the original deal is closed and computer notes are vague? Definitely not the customers. Look at previous reciepts and make a consistent price. Call the store who is now handling most the orders get some consistency. Realize you screwed up and almost sent someone to a wedding with no vest. Accomodate, don't just give the run around, charge another $80 for a vest that was supposed to be included, then spout off about vague notes to me one last time.
Will see how the regional manager handles everything tomorrow, but in store I've never had such a shi**y customer experience any where in a long while.
I would definitely shop elsewhere,...

MORE SILLINESS. MORE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. AS WELL AS SOME UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR.
YESTERDAY JOS A BANK SAYS MY REPLACEMENT JACKET IS READY FOR PICKUP, OR IF I PREFER, I CAN HAVE A FULL REFUND.
TODAY I CALLED JOS A BANK TO TAKE THEM UP ON THEIR OFFER FOR A FULL REFUND. THEY INSISTED I MUST VISIT THEM IN PERSON, ONSITE, FOR THEM TO PROVIDE A ME THE FULL REFUND THEY PROMISED. I WAS INTERRUPTED WHILE I WAS SPEAKING, CALLED OVERLY PASSIONATE (FOR PURSUING THIS FULL REFUND THEY OFFERED OVER THE PHONE??), ALL SO THE PERSON I WAS SPEAKING WITH COULD IMPOSE MORE NONSENSE (I.E., JOS A BANK CORPORATE POLICY) ON ME.
NO, JOS A BANK. I DO NOT NEED TO VISIT YOUR STORE TO GET THIS FULL REFUND I WAS PROMISED; I WILL HAVE ALL MONIES REFUNDED AND I WILL NOT GO THERE TO GET IT. I AM CONTACTING MY BANK.
I CONTACTED MY BANK. THEY OPENED A CLAIM AGAINST YOU, JOS A BANK, AND THEY HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED THIS FULL REFUND TO ME PROVISIONALLY, JOS A BANK.
NOW YOU OWE MY BANK MONEY, JOS A BANK. GOOD LUCK GETTING ONE OF THEIR STAFF TO VISIT YOU TO PROVIDE THEM THEIR MONEY.

POOR QUALITY DRESS CLOTHING. POORER QUALITY SERVICE. BUYERS BEWARE!
I ordered a jacket because they don't stock the size that fits me anymore.
When the jacket came in it still needed to be tailored more.
I wore it once. It was in my possession two days. A colleague pointed out the lapel was coming apart at the seams.
I took it back to the store the next day. The employee I was working with sent me to another employee. This employee wanted to repair it using their tailors. I explained I needed it replaced, or, returned and my money refunded.
The employee I was working with was the store manager. He busily looked around for and found paperwork I initialed that basically says even when JOS A BANK is entirely at fault, you will only be entitled to a 50% refund. All the store manager seemed to care about was everything JOS A BANK needed so JOS A BANK could play CYA.
I expressed my dissatisfaction and made clear this bad situation was made worse. I would have much rather walked away with my money back to get something else.
Now I must wait for another shoddy quality suit jacket, and wait again to have it tailored, and hope the outcome is different.
You might fool me once, and then try to fool me twice, JOS A BANK. You will never get my business again. Youāve earned this consequence. I will not return until a very different experience is assured. And this involved the store manager at the JOS A BANK store in Centennial / Englewood / Denver Tech...
