Not a five star experience because they can't make nigiri. And then when I complained they acted like there's no possible way I could dislike it because the fish is so great but you know what there's more than one component to nigiri and if your rice is completely soaking wet with vinegar and doesn't even hold its shape then you didn't do it right. And they were saying they appreciate feedback and that they would want to know how to improve like I'm not an employee here I don't know why you're asking me how to make nigiri is that was the question like what the heck. And nigiri is my favorite preparation. So I was disappointed I came here because it has an overall five-star rating but it is not a five-star restaurant I'm sorry not sorry. I spent $200 and walked away disappointed so thank you for the good fish but you need to hire someone who knows how to make some sushi rice because that is a vital component.

The miso was delicious which there are tons of different types of miso out there so, I appreciated that. The fish was really good but they had toro listed on the special board and then they didn't have any toro so I was disappointed with that as well and then they offered Bluefin as a replacement as if that is anything like toro. And I ordered Asahi and they didn't know what that was like I just feel like a lot of the employees were a little bit uneducated about Japanese food. And the presentation and plating was pretty poor which is funny because I was looking forward to that having seen some other pictures and we did order the Sashimi Omakase and it was all right as far as the presentation but everything else was just on the plate by itself like most of the dishes weren't even worth a picture because it was so ugly I'm sorry like do you have any setup for your presentation for any of the other food at all? Just chuck it on a plate. Also whoever is in charge of the vinegar in general is just getting carried away because the cucumber salad was extremely tart as well. I'm just not sure if the people making the dishes are all familiar with the dishes because a lot of the things are missing the mark if you are truly familiar with actual Japanese authentic food. And my husband and I worked in the best sushi restaurants in Denver for years so I guess we have high expectations. Next time I will drive all the way to Sushi Den my bad.

I really wanted this to be a five-star experience because I love Japanese food but it wasn't. There is definitely room for improvement and I doubt I...

Over-rated, over-priced and inauthentic. This location used to be great when it was Sonoda, and Asaka is definitely better than Sushi Wave that preceded it, but is is not a particularly great place to get quality sushi. Within a few miles, you can find better sushi, including an authentic Japanese owned and operated one.

Recent trip, as the better restaurant down the street was closed for the 4th weekend, we decided to give this place a try. It was at lunch, but there didn't have any lunch specials. They DO have happy hour from 11am, though. Decided on some takoyaki, nigiri appetizer and california roll. This is $5 cheaper down the street. The "chef selection" included a repeat, with two salmon, two whitefish and one tuna. It should be all different to show off the chef's selection. It also was just about the smallest amount of rice I have even seen in nigiri. The california roll was rather bland, even for a california roll. At least the rice was tender. The takoyaki was well cooked, but I couldn't actually detect any octopus inside.

This place seems to be following the local trend of getting smaller and smaller for more expensive. There are some really good sushi places in Denver, but this place it not one I'd recommend. Go to Denma, Sushi Kazu or Sushi Den. The last two are authentic Japanese owned and all three are really...

The fish was top notch, service was friendly and attentive, and the place was clean and had a cool show about ramen on.

We had a great time at Asaka. Stopped here before dragging ourselves through IKEA which is always a chore. It wasn't very busy when we were in, which was great because it meant we got more attention (yay!). Ordered edamame for an app, negihamachi (yellowtail with scallions), spicy tuna from rolls, and red snapper, tuna, yellowtail, and albacore for nigiri. Everything came out promptly and was delicious. They asked if we wanted some fresh wasabi, which we got on the side so everyone could share. It brought a new depth of flavor for the nigiri and we cleaned the whole bowl. Next time I'm going to get some takoyaki too, it looked amazing at someone else's table!

Servers were very good at reading the tables. Came when we needed something, left us alone to chat and enjoy when we didn't. Cleaned plates away quickly, and kept the kids happy too.

Overall I'm glad we chose Asaka over another restaurant we usually lunch at when coming into town, Okinawa (which is now called Moonga in Lone tree). I marked the price at 20-30 per person, but this is only because we all got some sake too. Otherwise it would've been more like 15-20 with the...

If you’re searching for the best sushi and Omakase experience in Denver, Colorado, Asaka Sushi is an absolute must-visit. After exploring countless sushi spots across Colorado, I can confidently say that Asaka sets a new standard for quality, creativity, and overall dining experience. Every time I visit, I choose the Omakase and it’s consistently phenomenal. The fish is exceptionally fresh, expertly prepared, and each piece literally melts in your mouth. The presentation is elegant, and you can tell from the first bite that they are deeply committed to using only the highest quality ingredients. Asaka Sushi has recently started offering dry-aged fish, and it has taken the Omakase experience to an entirely new level. The flavor depth and texture are absolutely outstanding! A true culinary experience that stands out even among top-tier sushi restaurants. Beyond the food, the service is exceptional. The staff is incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable, making every visit a memorable one. The ambiance is relaxed yet refined, perfect for a special occasion or an elevated night out. If you’re a sushi lover, or even if you’re new to Omakase, I highly recommend Asaka Sushi. It’s without a doubt the best sushi experience you’ll find in Denver, Colorado.

Asaka Sushi sets a high standard with its impeccable quality of fish and meticulous craftsmanship. I was recommended by my friend Tony and every visit promises an exceptional sushi experience characterized by the freshness and pristine flavor of their fish selection. From the velvety smoothness of their toro to the delicate sweetness of their amaebi (sweet shrimp), each piece reflects a commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. The craftsmanship at Asaka Sushi is equally impressive. Their chefs demonstrate precision and expertise in every slice, ensuring that each nigiri is perfectly balanced in texture and flavor. The rice is expertly seasoned, providing a subtle yet essential backdrop that enhances the overall sushi experience. Overall, Asaka Sushi excels in delivering a dining experience where the quality of the fish and the craftsmanship of preparation converge to create sushi that is not just a meal, but a celebration of Japanese culinary artistry.
