I will never go to this place ever again in my life. I went here awhile ago and when I checked out, I typed my phone number in during checkout to access my rewards card, and the system said cool! Here's your total. It did not include the discounts. They tell me to go to the service desk and get a new card. I was in a hurry so I figured I would do it next time I went there.
I go there today. With my 5 year old child. It's raining like a monsoon outside. I walk in and walk right up to the service desk. I am greeted by an unpleasant looking individual who is panting as they lumber towards me squawking-WHAT DO YOU WANT? I reply that I need to get a Dot's card. She loudly sqwauks- DO IT ONLINE and points to a piece of paper that instructs customers how to go online and get a rewards card. I tell her I don't have my phone with me. More loud sqwauking ensues.
WUT?! YOU DONT HAVE YOUR PHONE?! YOU NEED YOUR PHONE. In a shocking turn of events, I STILL do not have my phone. God forbid someone not have their phone with them 24/7.
I explain to her what happened during my last visit. I could have saved something like 6 dollars but didn't because I had no card and was directed to the service desk. She sqwauks angrily WE DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE. YOU GO ONLINE. DO IT ONLINE. I already understood that part, but the unpleasant recap was a lovely touch.
I say to her, Well, since I'm here already is there some guest Dot's card I could use so I can get the discounts? (Every single store has this courtesy, I honestly expected her to say yes. Boy was I wrong). The loud unpleasant sqwauking continues as she sternly and loudly sqwauks- YOU NEED TO GO ONLINE. ON YOUR PHONE. USE YOUR PHONE. Gotcha.
I take my child's hand and reply to this grotesque human being- ok! I guess we're going to leave then. Sqwauky looks shocked that her disgustingly rude demeanor did not convince me to shop there on this rainy afternoon.
I took my 5 year old back out into the monsoon. Looks like we're not making cupcakes, kiddo. And we're never going back to that awful place ever again.
What a vile human being Sqwauky was. And what rude customer service. Usually places that market themselves as 'local' 'hometown' markets, are a bit more mindful of their 'local', 'hometown' clientele. Not this place. This place makes Walmart customer service look top of the line.
TIL If you're not glued to your phone 24/7, you are not welcome to shop at Dot's Market.
So trashy. So incredibly trashy. So rude. So disgusting. So far from helpful. So sorry I gave this place a chance. This place...
Read moreBe prepared for rude employees and sky high prices. Went to store 7March2023 while "grand opening" was still going on. It seemed to us that most prices for items were higher than the other grocery stores in the region. True story: walked into new Dots on Alex Bell and saw no carts or buggies. Two Dots clerks were busy by front door watering plants. I asked if they had buggies or carts, the answer I got was essentially "yes we have buggies and carts but we don't know where they are." We continued shopping for a few minutes, not sure if we needed a cart. There were only two items that we found that were a good deal: bananas and eggs, which are cumbersome so I went back to front of store to see if any carts had arrived--I found one! I went back into the store and the same clerks that didn't know where the carts were then told me I couldn't shop there, and that they meant to turn away any new customers--this was 3 pm in the afternoon. Another new customer slipped in past me and I noticed there were maybe a hundred customers still shopping. The clerks then shouted at me that "all the computers are down! You can't shop here!" We set down our eggs and bananas and walked further into the store wondering what was going on, we saw a line of 20 or so customers with full buggies stuck in a cashier lane that wasn't moving. A clerk or manager staffing the service desk was all flustered, shouting out to customers that "the computers are down!" I then noticed that a lot of other customers were backing up at the self checks and one customer was pulling out a finished receipt having consummated a deal. I shouted out to the swamped service desk, asking how did that customer get checked out if all the computers were down. All I could find out was that "She paid cash!" We had plenty of cash, but with the absolute mayhem we just gave up and left empty handed. Of course computers do go down, but the difference between a professional store and a crummy one is that the professional store would be announcing that "sorry, our card readers are down, working on problem ASAP, BUT WE CAN take CASH!" The experience reminded me why we have not been to any of the other Dots stores for over five years: we just got tired of confused clerks with short tempers that don't know how to communicate, which would be almost tolerable if Dot's had a lot of good deals, but in our opinion, they just set out 3 or 4 "loss leaders" then gouge you on everything else...if the computers...
Read moreThis was the first time and the last time in a Dot's Supermarket. Their prices are higher than Kroger and Walmart. They kept the same store layout that Earthfare had before they closed 7 years ago, but there are no markings on the end of the aisles to let one know what's in the aisle. The fresh fish had no smell, which is a bonus. Many employees were up front taking pictures, instead of throughout the store helping customers. The meat department gentleman did ask if there was anything they could help with. The bakery staff was incredible, it's just sad the store manager was not helping them with the label maker for the bakery products. The cookies we bought had no ingredients listed, the first lady I asked about it didn't care. The second lady was kind enough to bring the case of commercial cookie dough out so I could read the ingredients. There were about 5 date labels on the cookies, the top one was from today and the bottom one was from days ago. I would bet they were baked last week, as they were quite hard and stale. Paying full price for stale cookies is not a great way to open a new store. The manager told them to put the cookies out anyway. Their Grand Opening specials did not start until an hour after we were in there, multiple people were upset because they could not get the special pricing on items. I did speak with the manager about the cookies, he not only didn't seem concerned, he laughed at me. It's one thing to scoff and laugh at your employees which is wrong, but it's another to do the same thing to customers. Bad ethics and bad business practice Manager Neal. Skip the MikeSells, they have...
