Gold Nugget — Local services in Champaign

Went in to have a lot of mid-grade / lower grade older silver coins looked at and wanting to sell/exchange for different coins of bullion. Mary was SO respectful of the collection which had been mostly saved by my father. She took the time to look at almost EVERY coin… even the worn dimes and buffalo nickels. She took the time to look at mint marks and not just buy bulk and go back later to find any gems. We did find a few and she was genuinely excited for me and my son. Said she buys gold but offered 25% of spot on just over 14grams of gold. Value as of today is $450. She offered $135.

$450 was the scrap value not the jewelry value. Anything below 80% of spot price for scrap gold is a rip off. You offered me 25% of spot knowing that YOU could scrap it at the refinery for 90-100% if you didn't just resell it as usable jewelry. Also the jewelry was already "clean" with no stones or magnetics.
