I went to Detox here. For alcohol and Ativan. They left me in a room alone for like two days. The staff was bizarre. They tried to steal my wallet. The same old saying “ You were pretty messed up when you came in…” Luckily, my boyfriend had packed my wallet and I had my phone while I stayed here so I was able to talk to him. I had no memory of him packing my wallet, but I knew he wasn’t lying and go figure, eventually, my wallet turned up in the break room of all places?
This place is terrible. I’ve been to a AA meetings after this, and, because I was still detoxing from alcohol and benzos, Several women from the AA meetings, came up to me and said they had the same experience with mercy Hospital/Detox whatever they are calling themselves. I was so sick I was throwing up for days. My blood pressure was so high. I had to leave there AMA, and get my boyfriend to just taper me off the benzos. It was terrible. It was probably the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. Also, I just paid them like $1500. All of that, only for them to put an IV in me with a bag of liquids that’s about all they did. And then tried to steal my wallet.. It was pretty terrible. I’ve been to better state funded detoxes than this place. I seriously thought I was gonna die. Absolutely the worst experience.
The funny thing is, I look back on my doctor notes from this place, and the woman who wrote some of them, said that I was uncooperative, and her thoughts on me recovering and staying sober, were slim to none. I remember this woman, I asked for a baby aspirin, because my heart rate was so high, and she corralled me into my room. It was really strange it was almost like, she was trying to get me to do something against the rules in order for me to stay there. Or.. get me to like touch her or something so they could put me on a hold. I’m not sure I just kept asking her for some space.
Over and over I just kept asking can you please give me some space I feel like I’m having a panic attack. Super funny, the notes that she wrote on me. I remember, I had my boyfriend on FaceTime because I kept thinking, this should be recorded.. All of it was surreal. It’s kind of terrifying to me that this is our health insurance. This is what it pays for. They left me sitting in a room with a towel, soaked with my own piss. When a lady eventually came to check on me like 18 Hours later, she asked me “ Why haven’t you brushed your teeth or taking a shower?” I told her I can’t even get up.. It was really scary. That’s why I left AMA. I just said this is crazy. I can get better care at home or if I’m gonna die I’d rather do it at home than here. At least someone can bathe me at home. Then they told me that they would rather people leave their place with the shakes Because Detox is not meant to be comfortable.
I Understand this type of thinking, because people don’t understand alcoholism. But it’s really sad that the nurses and counselors and practitioners at this facility think this way. If you leave shaking, the chances of you staying sober are very slim. If you leave still physically, in withdrawal, you have virtually not much chance of staying sober.
I’m assuming that their rates don’t look very good they have so many people leave AMA. That’s the only thing I can assume because they damn sure didn’t help me or...
Read moreI wanted to go to an urgent care but because my insurance isn’t up to date so I was forced to go to an emergency room. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before wasting my time. I came to this emergency room yesterday and wanted to be treated/tested because I have been having cold symptoms since the second or third week in March which has been about six weeks. I was seen by Jalpa Patel. Who expressed no empathy or concern. The symptoms always seem like they’re getting better around two weeks but then they start right back up with something new. I have a cough that has never left. The first two weeks it was like pharyngitis symptoms. I lost my voice. The second two weeks, it was a runny nose with thick excessive yellow mucus (I went through an entire box of Kleenex in 2 days). There was also a lot of postnasal drip. That cleared up, but I continued on with the cough and post nasal drip and then my throat became itchy- then sore for two days. This week I again developed a runny nose (yesterday), itchy throat, and postnasal drip. My concern is, without even examining or testing me. The doctor prescribed me a cough suppressant and sent me on my way. I let her know I felt like there should be further evaluation. Maybe there is an underlying condition. She only wanted to test for COVID or Flu which I know and I’m sure she knows was not the case. This emergency room seems to just want to get people in and out and take their money. I am not satisfied with my visit. I don’t even know what’s causing me to be sick for this long. And I never get sick, so I feel like something bigger may be the cause. Giving me a cough suppressant (which isn’t working) and Sudafed (which doesn’t address any symptom I had) I had no congestion. I told her I had a runny nose…. and sending me on my way, was not helpful. I could’ve grabbed that myself at the store. Will never return here. What a waste of time energy and money. Not fair. Hopefully there’s nothing more serious going on with me. Not that...
Read moreThis ER visit was a horrible experience. After being triaged I sat in a chair in the hallway for at least 4 hours in pain. Moaning, rocking and groaning I couldn’t get one Tylenol to take the edge off. I heard another woman waiting ask a nurse that was passing by for a blanket. The nurse replied she didn’t know where the blankets were and kept walking. Once I finally got a room the little girl nurse that walked me to the room opened the door and walked away. The mattress was barely covered with a sheet and the plastic pillow had no pillowcase. Once my nurse and doctor came things got a little better. Both were nice but no one ever asked me what meds I was on or if I was allergic to anything and I had to complain of cramping suggesting I might be dehydrated to get liquids. Long story short I was there 7 1/2 hours. I got home and first waited a few hours to hear from the pharmacy, only to find out the prescriptions were sent to a Walgreens I have never used, could not have been in my records, and is closed on Sundays. I called my Walgreens and got them to pull the prescriptions only to find what was prescribed is in the family of a medicine I am allergic to. Once I got that resolved I realized the paperwork did not note anything about returning to work so I called the ER back. The person I spoke to agreed to give me a note and hung up on me so I had to call back to find out how to get the note. Apparently email or fax is not an option because I was told I had to drive back to the ER to pick it up - today. Coming from NYC where I’ve been to Harlem trauma ERs, I have never in my entire live witnessed such indifferece and down right lack of consideration/compassion from people in the medical community, particularly the nurses. Overall a horrible experience I’m...
