This shopping center and condo complex fits the definition of "mixed use" with a few Big Box stores and some restaurants and some offices and some living spaces (not sure if condos or apartments).
I have been here a number of times, usually to hit up Trader Joe's but there's also a nice Best Buy (that does auto installations), Pisces all-you-can-eat sushi, Lost Worlds Brewing, and now 3rd & Fernwood which was my destination today (Yelp elite event!). There's bunches more of retail and restaurants.
The tall parking deck worked well on a quiet midweek evening but during the holiday shopping season, it will be a real challenge. The deck is clean, well lit and I did see security on patrol. As always, be aware of your surroundings especially in or near the elevators and stairwells. I did not bring the Sprinter as there is a low height clearance.

Read moreI love this spot! Great shopping, restaurants and right on the greenway. There is a lovely park next door and I love coming here to run and walk on the greenway along Little Sugar Creek. There is live music some nights and some of the restaurants have lovely patio seating along the greenway. There is a gorgeous view of the Charlotte skyline from here. Also, along the greenway are plaques giving information about the local ecology and history of this area. There are some beautiful sculptures of local historical figures as well. My favorite is the sculpture to remember Thompson's orphanage nearby. Yes, the parking lot is tight. But if you pay attention, give yourself plenty of time for parking, and remember to bring some patience...It's not that bad. You can't be in a hurry in this...
