Pure Luxury Beauty Studio — Local services in Charlotte

2 Stars because I used to have pretty positive experiences with this salon, but apparently the down grade in space is reflective of poor business practices. I am very disappointed I trusted this salon with a major event in my life as they clearly had no regard in making sure the service provided was what was promised. I went to a consultation discussing what I want and was told one thing - too bad I did not write it down myself - but apparently nobody decided to record it despite us discussing a payment plan. I was very grateful for the payment plan option as the event was a year out but how do you set up a plan and you haven't recorded what your client is asking for? Fast forward to about 3 months prior to my event. I sent an email with pictures and was told I was ordering what was pictured - what I got was NOTHING like the pictures or what was told. They told me they got "confused" by the verbiage in my email but I am not the professional and again, they should have recorded my order when I made the first deposit. After my service, I called to express my disappointment and was told they would get the correct piece and install it - I was willing to pay for the appointment but then I never got a call back. They tried to say I got my first style for free - when actually I paid over 50% of the fee for something I didn't even want - which is the point. I can't say enough about the first class experience at Pure Luxury. It was a blessing to find such a great place to pamper myself when I moved from Maryland last year. Their attention to detail in making you enjoy every aspect of your visit is second to none. The location is in a nice location and it is warm and inviting. I have had 4 fabulous weaves put in by Katina who has done a short style, a blonde curly style (Jamaica vacation hair ), a curly natural looking style with color and highlights ( luv luv luv), and a straight shoulder length style on me ( I wasn't sure what I wanted and she snuck this one in on me, but I loved it). All the styles looked so natural, even my family couldn't believe it was weave and I received so many compliments. Service and Professionalism I met Katina for a consultation and found her to be engaging and knowledgeable. It was suggested that I think through the options and call her or text with questions and/or go to the website to schedule a service. She referenced a deadline later that day if I wanted to move forward.

I left and realized I had several questions that I needed her to address so I reached out to her every way I could think of over several days (texting two different phone lines, calling more than a dozen times over the weekend, and leaving at least one message, as well as sending an email). She suggested I call her so I assumed at some point she would answer or at least respond.

The challenge with trying to support small black businesses is this lack of professionalism. I'm sure Katina is a consummate tradesperson but running a business is more than that. It is disappointing that a relationship could not be established and I am out $25. The money is not the issue;...
