Came here with my husband yesterday in the later afternoon. We both selected to get the AYCE so that we could try out different things. We got the spring roll, shrimp shumai, and sesame chicken bites. All were good. But, we waited over a half hour for anything to come out from the kitchen food wise. We then at the arrival of our apps put in our order for our first items. I did a yoshi roll and a couple pieces of nigiri. My husband got some kind of fried roll that had chicken in it as well as a cucumber roll and beef habachi. Our waiter also at this time let us know the kitchen would be closing shortly and to put in our last orders soon. Our first round took about 20 minutes to arrive, and while we waited we put in our second round order since the kitchen was closing. Husband got the habachi chicken and I got a rainbow roll and two eel rolls. When our first food round arrived, they got my husbands cucumber roll wrong, they did a cucumber and avocado roll, which he’s not a fan of avocado. And his habachi beef was a super small portion, almost like a child’s size. I ended up eating the avocado/cucumber roll with the shredded crab stick that was on the top of my husbands fried roll. They do not use any fresh crab here, it is all crab stick, which there’s nothing wrong with. Our waiter was nice, but he kept getting our orders wrong, and even though it seemed like he was checking on us, we were always waiting on our drinks to be filled. For me I don’t think the AYCE is worth the price. The worth versus the price of $30 for the dinner buffet just isn’t there. The rolls are small sized with crab stick, and the wait time is terrible. The best factor here are the appetizers. I suggest if your coming here with friends or a significant other, to order off the menu a couple of things or one thing each and just share amongst yourselves. Or just go to a better quality AYCE...
Read moreMy co-workers and I frequent Pisces because we work in the Met and it's an easy location to get to. We went to lunch with a group of ten people at 11:30 on a Monday. The restaurant was not very crowded. Five of my co-workers were new and had never been to Pisces. From the very start I could infer that our waitress was annoyed by the size of our group despite our readiness to order, lack of asking questions, and friendliness.
The sushi came out quickly. The sushi is generally served on several large plates. Our waitress told us that she tried to make sure that what we ordered was in front of us, but that she was unable to make it perfect. In fact, most of the sushi that the people on my half of the table ordered was on the otherside of the table. Our waitress asked us if we would like her to explain the which sushi was which. Seeing that the sushi was mixed up, I said, "Yes", to which she responded in an exasperated tone, "All of them?!?!" I thought she was volunteering to explain, but apparently not.
Further, out waitress only brought out one small tray of ginger and wasabi which was only sufficient for about two or four people - not a group of ten.
While my service at Pisces is generally good and the all-you-can-eat sushi is okay, this was not a good experience despite the restaurant being slow. I will reconsider taking large groups to Pisces and consider other places around the Met which are more group friendly, such as...
Read morePisces sushi has been my favorite place to get sushi from in Charlotte for years - mainly because they serve the best rolls with lots of different options. I like rolls with seared fish on top (because raw fish texture freaks me out) and they have multiple options for this! Their rolls are AMAZING! For years, I used to always request the seating in the back because that was the only area with booths but they have recently updated the whole interior of the restaurant and now their are high backed booths throughout the whole restaurant so you can basically sit anywhere and get plenty of privacy. This update made this restaurant feel to me like the atmosphere matches the quality of fish, the quality of rolls, and the amazing service that you receive when going there! I am so glad the owners made this investment for their customers because now I can recommend Pisces as a fine dining atmosphere with the BEST freshest tasting sushi in town! I can’t tell yall enough how great this place is! The staff is always kind, welcoming, and happy, the food is amazing (my husband loves the teriyaki chicken and the rainbow roll), and the atmosphere is perfect - casual yet refined! If you’re wondering where to get sushi in Charlotte, this is your place!! It’s way better sushi at a more reasonable price than anywhere else in Charlotte - and sushi is my favorite food so I am picky! You’ll love...
