Racist, Dishonest, and Unethical – They Took My Money Without Providing Any Service!

If I could give zero stars, I would. As an Asian woman, I have never felt so disrespected and discriminated against at a business.

I had a confirmed appointment at 11:00 AM. Before arriving, I called ahead to let them know I would be around 25 minutes late, and they said it was okay. I arrived at 11:38 AM, meaning I still had plenty of time, as the stylist’s next appointment wasn’t until 2:30 PM—a full three hours later.

I have had this exact service (bleach and tone) with the same stylist before, and it only took two hours. But instead of working with me, they outright refused to see me, even though I was already there and willing to compromise. I offered multiple solutions, including blowing out my own hair to save time—but they refused to even let me speak with the stylist. The front desk staff was cold, dismissive, and completely unwilling to communicate.

The worst part? They charged me the full amount without telling me. I repeatedly asked if they were only charging the deposit, and they lied and said yes. I later discovered they had secretly taken the full payment，which is 127. When I asked them in the email, the owner had a terrible attitude—no apology, just an arrogant claim that they would refund half “out of courtesy.” But I received no service at all—not because I didn’t show up, but because they refused to serve me.

I was literally standing there, trying to negotiate any solution, while they dismissed me completely. They never once tried to work with me—it was me begging them the entire time.

This is not just about bad service—it is clear racial discrimination. They had the time, they had the means, but they chose to deny service to an Asian customer and steal my money instead.

This salon is racist, dishonest, and completely unethical. They take your money, lie to your face, and refuse to provide any solutions. DO NOT support a business that treats customers this way. Avoid this place...

Stop your search; this is by far the best hair salon in Chicago! As soon as you try this place out, you won't look back, and you'll be happy you came across it. If you are as particular as I am about my hair, this is the place for you. You will not be disappointed. I tried many other high-end salons when I moved to Chicago in 2019. While they provided decent results, you can truly tell the difference between good and the best salon.

After my first visit in August 2021, this will be my only salon as long as I'm here in Chicago.

John is my stylist, and he genuinely has a gift and a passion for cutting hair. He is pays attention to detail, and I know each time I will be happy with my cut! Regardless of my sometimes unconventional hairstyle requests, John is always ready for the challenge and never fails to amaze me.

If you're looking for a colorist, Kevin is fantastic! The few times I opted to color my hair, Kevin has nailed the color each time!!

I speak of John and Kevin as they have been my stylists since coming here! However, no matter who you choose, you'll be in skilled hands.

From the moment you enter to the moment you leave, the entire staff is very welcoming and friendly, which makes the experience even better. This salon truly exemplifies what a salon should be modeled after; they've got it right.
