When my wife and I were getting hitched a decade ago, I had no clue how to pick engagement rings, wedding bands, wedding rings, etc. I waltzed along Jeweler’s Row in the heart of downtown Chicago looking for answers. Honestly most of the shops turned me off. Except for one: CA Jewelers. From the very first conversation, Susie Lam (and her brother, the master jeweler; and her parents, the original entrepreneurs—it’s a family affair, in all the best ways possible) made me feel at home. She listened intently; she offered years of expertise in a friendly, non-aggressive way; and she took care of me and my fiancé end to end, like we were more than just another client. Well I initially came in for just an engagement ring, I ended up sticking around for that, a wedding ring, my wedding band, and also pearl necklaces for the bridesmaids. We got a heckuva deal in the sense that no other shop we talked to offered us as much value, given the same quality and given the same craftsmanship. CA JEWELERS IS TRULY A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH.

Fast forward to June 2021. This is now 10 years later. Nearing our 10 year anniversary, I decided to give Susie a call and ask her for advice on purchasing a 10 year anniversary ring. I had moved away from Chicago. I was now living in Atlanta. And I had visited 3 to 4 different local jewelers in the area but felt like I was either uncomfortable, getting scammed, or just uneasy in general. Feeling lost again as I did 10 years ago, I thought of Susie and the experience that I had with her and her family. I decided to call Susie on a whim. I just wanted to ask for her advice and see if she could tell me which jeweler locally I should go with. Instantly the rapport that I felt a decade ago came right back. And in talking to Susie, she basically said: why don’t you work with us? One thing led to another, and I ended up purchasing a custom ring through CA Jewelers. This second time experience really under scored the level of trust and genuine care that this place offers its clients. My wife had collected a bunch of sapphire inspired rings on a Pinterest page but I was wary of buying online rings because of how flimsy and low-grade quality they appear to be. susie offered me a better deal than what was available online, and she even helped me to upgrade the thickness of the band, the quality of the stones used in the ring, and the overall design and aesthetic. As we customize the ring together entirely over the phone and back-and-forth over email, I would occasionally push back and Susie was attentive to my concerns and tried her best to assuage them one by one. I never felt more trusted and cared for in her hands. End result: The custom ring turned out to be perfect.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. I will never work with another jeweler ever in my entire life, if I can help it.

If I could give CA Jewelers more than 5 stars, I would. Everyone we interacted with was lovely, but Susie especially is such a sweetheart. She was so thorough and patient throughout the entire process of designing an engagement ring for us. She took the time to explain the pros and cons of each type of metal, showed us many different sizes of diamonds, and gave us her honest feedback when it came to the feasibility of the design we had in mind. Like other reviewers have mentioned, we did not feel pressured at all, and it is clear Susie does everything she can to ensure her clients are happy with the final result. Susie let us look around for as long as we wanted, but the band we ended up loving was the one she suggested after only a few minutes of discussing the elements we were looking for. The ring was gorgeous, well-made, and priced fairly. For fun, I tried to design a similar ring on Brilliant Earth, and it actually ended up being more expensive for a lower quality ring.
