Pros:

Feature some of the most, if not traditional, classical North American Japanese-inspired "sushi" related dishes. You won't find anything you will consider "exotic" unless this is your first experience with the concept of Far East delicacies.

Peaceful area with a very good massive level of insulation and low noise pollution for such a small area adjacent to the rush if the CTA train stops less than a minute away.

The food quality is beyond what 1 would normally expect from a location such as this making it a good choice for those just craving a sushi fix.

Cons:

There is no excuse for a uses towel to be chillin in a bathroom corner.....

The floor and chair combination is a legitimate discomfort and hindrance to their high-quality calming in restaurant aesthetics.

Tile floor with wood chairs having no protective elements on the feet coupled with the dreads SLIGHT love seat style for the booth meaning you may slide off onto the clean floor.

But if that's the worst thing I can say about this location that should let you know your money is well spent.

The staff also can take orders in Japanese!

If you're gonna go with a group, you can or if you want to go after a long day of work to someplace quiet and peaceful for a small taste of the far east, look...

I've ordered from Ryo (always delivery) several times before, always happy with the food. Tonight I ordered miso soup and two rolls, Under Control Roll and Sunny Roll. I ordered for a 6pm delivery, it arrived at 5:30. The miso soup was cold, and the ikura (salmon roe) on top of the Sunny Roll was obviously not fresh. Kind of crumpled, and very strongly smelling of fish. I tried to eat a bite but could not keep chewing and spit it out. I love ikura normally, and I know that it has a fishy, salty flavor, but not like this! I called the restaurant, and while the hostess was nice, the owner refused to speak to me (language barrier) and refused a partial refund for that roll, telling the hostess to tell me "that's how it tastes." I doubt the owner would have the audacity to treat an in-house customer that way. Of course, customers in the restaurant don't pay up front. I am very unhappy with the food quality, lack of customer service and basic courtesy, and how this owner is taking advantage of take-out order customers. I will not be ordering from here EVER again. So, to the owner of Ryo, I hope you enjoy your miserly $12 while I order many $100s from better establishments in the future, like Butterfly and Toro. I do love good...

This was some of the best sushi ive ever had, ive eaten at fancy sushi restaurants in NY & Miami and this place could absolutely go toe to toe with the best of them.

The photos I attached are of octopus salad, the jalapeño sashimi appetizer, a smoked tuna appetizer (the name is escaping me right now) a shrimp tempura roll, and the sashimi deluxe entree. They do this fun thing with dry ice for all the entrees which does nothing to make the food taste better (not that it needs it) but is a fun little gimmick nonetheless.

The only reason I gave the atmosphere 3 stars is because some guy in his late 50s wearing an affliction button up (I didn't know they even made those) was having what seemed like a complete psychological breakdown to two people who made the unfortunate decision of inviting him out in public.

That being said I look forward to eating here again and updating my review to reflect the experience when all the other...
