Wild Fork — Local services in Chicago

I really hate to leave bad reviews, but I have become increasingly frustrated with Wild Fork (at least this location). The quality of meat is amazing and the selection is always consistent. Unfortunately, the last three times I’ve tried to stop by this store, they were closed early. During the onset of the pandemic, I understood that slow traffic and uncomfortable travel conditions changed many things. However, in 2024, after driving through the rain to pick up food, the store closed 15 minutes early and the staff ignored me when they saw me walk to the door. I emailed customer service and they told me that stores have to have be cleaned, implying that it was my fault or that the posted hours are merely a suggestion. I then sent the customer service rep pictures from my iPhone with time stamps and locations, and the response I received was, “we’ll forward this to management”. This seems to be another example of a great model that fails to live up to the corporate standards under poor management. Needless to say, I’ve cancelled my monthly membership and I will walk one block down to the grocery stores...

I shop here every week, and it’s been a game changer for my grilling and sous vide cooking. Juan is fantastic and gives the best recommendations. I had been a strictly fresh meat buyer before, since most frozen meats didn’t preserve well and tasted cheap. Now, without exaggeration, I don’t buy my steak or chicken anywhere else. It’s flash frozen and after I thaw it, it tastes even better than what I got from Whole Foods and Mariano’s, at typically 50-75% of the price. Their ribeye is $8-9/lb, and has become a staple of our weekly meal plan. Can’t recommend highly enough- particularly for those who sous vide, since their packaging is confirmed sous vide safe and you can drop directly from the freezer into the sous vide bath and have dinner ready...

If you're a fan of exotic meats like I am, then this place is a MUST-VISIT! Swordfish, bison, alligator, yak, ostrich, octopus, and pheasant are stocked here. Common meats such as brisket, chicken wings and pork chops are carried here as well.

Besides meat, there's a great selection of frozen vegetables, frozen breads, and frozen desserts. Just about everything here is in freezers, except for the spices and seasonings, and of course the grilling supplies. Additionally, everything here is reasonably priced, and the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward...
