The Brant — Local services in Chincoteague

The interior and exterior is eye catching and unique, and the items while a little pricey are very beautiful. What turned us off was the lack of welcome from the staff. My family had to force a "hello" out of the cashier and another staff member after point blank eye contact. It's the easiest thing to do, to simply greet someone when they walk through the door, to make a customer feel welcome, to set the vibe for their shopping experience. We weren't asking for a long conversation and we realize they still had to work. But, really? It's takes a second to speak or wave if you're multi-tasking. They don't even understand how that's a bad habit. We stayed for a few minutes the mood was down after that for us, we felt unwelcomed, so we left out to tour more of the island. Great gift/souvenir store. End of season 50% off sale. Visited end of Oct with the family. Got some great deals on chicoteague sweatshirt and tshirt combo (got really early frost before halloween and wife needed something warmer), "late night snack" mugs(adorable), "turtley awesome" nice quality tshirt (wife could not leave without it), watchover voodoo keychains (because my older too had to have it and decided to get one for myself) and a sea turtle neck pillow (because my youngest said it was so cute). This is not your typical gift/souvenir store. It's very clean and warm feeling inside. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again in the future when we are on chincoteague island. Mask is required and they have hand sanitizer when you walk in...

I grew up on Chincoteague and shopped at the Brant for many many years. It used to be my favorite place to buy Christmas gifts and birthday cards. Unfortunately I can not say the same about the home I rented from Island Getaways that is owned by the same people who own the Brant Store. I sent and email to the Rental company which should have been forwarded to the owners and I am sad to say they didn't car to much that I spent $1,200 on a weeks vacation in their home which is dirty and run down with broken appliances and a leaking ceiling. I expected more from my small hometown. I was sent a measly check for $75 and that was after I was treated very rudely by Laura at Island Getaways.
