Drop In Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Chincoteague

Good food, but disappointed with how the kitchen handled an allergy request.

We stopped into Drop In Sandwich Shop and overall had a good experience. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was solid—clean, casual, and welcoming. When my wife asked if they could make her a plain BLT without mayo (which she can’t eat), the cashier was friendly and happy to accommodate the request.

Unfortunately, when the sandwich came out, it was covered in mayo. She took it back up and the girl at the counter was great—apologetic and quick to take it back without any issue. However, when the sandwich came back, it was clear the kitchen had just swapped out the bread and lettuce, but reused the bacon and tomato from the mayo-covered sandwich.

For a food sensitivity or allergy, that’s just not okay. It may not seem like a big deal, but it defeats the purpose of remaking it clean. It was disappointing to see the kitchen take a shortcut like that when the front staff handled it so well.

Great food, and we’d probably come back, but hopefully the cooks take those kinds of requests more seriously...

I am so glad I stopped at this place! My friend and I split the Coastal Classic sandwich (turkey, bacon, lto, house sauce) and the tuna sandwich. The turkey sandwich was so good, each ingredient was fresh and tasted so good. The house sauce was delicious and the bread was so good. The tuna salad sandwhich was good, it was a little messy but the tuna tasted really good. Talked to the chef after and he was grateful for feedback. He's really eager to be successful and wants people to enjoy his food! Make sure you check them out. When I drive back down to Chincoteague, I will definitely come back and try some of the other...

I am always rooting for the business that take over this gem of spot in Chincoteague. I absolutely LOVE that you can order online. We ordered at 10:30am as we were getting ready for the beach and picked up all 4 sandwiches and salad around 11:20am. I highly recommend ordering ahead as there was definitely a wait for the people there. The atmosphere is beautiful next to the water. Yes the prices are higher but omg the quality of the sandwiches were top notch and worth it - I am still thinking about it! Praying they are around next summer...
