Mercy Health - Queen City HealthPlex — Local services in Cincinnati

I like to go here regularly for exercising and getting personalized fitness goals. I was a member of Planet Fitness for years, and albeit it's more cost efficient, the number of equipment is very limited and it's hard to exercise efficiently when it's overly crowded most days. I switched to the Healthplex. I will admit it's more costly, but there are a variety of activities you can do here. Two swimming pools, classes, and a spa center. They also provide complimentary towels, hygiene products, and monthly events for people to join. It's never too crowded, and the people are incredibly friendly and helpful. The gym area and pool areas are always kept clean and well maintained. If you're looking for a place to try different things, this is the place to go. I like the facility however I do have some issues: the locker rooms are carpeted and always wet so therefore , they reak of mold! Yuk. I pay $70 monthly and I have to pay another $20 if I want to bring a guest one time. If I want to learn the machines or get set up on a fitness plan, I have to pay another $150 everytime I meet with a "trainer' 4x. This has always been free at other gyms where I only paid $30 a month to belong. Seems like a rip off to me. I need someone to set me up on machines every six weeks. Decent facility, but overpriced for the market and its condition. Nice staff for the most part.

Pro: they do monthly billing with no long-term commitment

Cons for me: Seems like their demographic is either families with kids for swim classes, people who need physical therapy, or elderly. It has more of a “functional gym” feel than a “lifting gym.” The men’s showers are ready for a full renovation too. Pretty funky in my opinion.

Do your homework and check other facilities on the west side. You might be surprised what amenities and pricing you find! I’m going to a newer, nicer...
