I’m extremely disappointed with Geek Squad and Best Buy. On February 12, I brought my computer in because it was completely frozen — mouse, keyboard, and USB ports weren’t working. I was told I needed to purchase a Geek Squad Membership, which I did, and paid around $200 after taxes. But when I found out that they weren’t actually going to repair it themselves and were just sending it to the manufacturer, I asked for a refund. They only gave me back $86, and I still don’t understand why I didn’t get a full refund — Geek Squad didn’t do anything themselves. The computer was sent out for repair and came back nearly three weeks later, but I didn’t even receive it because the case was damaged during shipping. They sent it out again. In total, I had to wait almost two months. Finally, when I got it back, I discovered that my D drive is completely missing. Now I have to go back to Geek Squad again. I asked twice for a replacement computer while mine was being repaired, but the only option they gave me was to buy a new one out of pocket and return it later. I explained that I can’t afford that — my original computer cost $1500, which I bought on installments using a Best Buy credit card, and I’ve been paying for two months without being able to use it. No accountability, no proper support, and zero care for the customer. I would not recommend Geek Squad or Best Buy to anyone! To be continued. Unfortunately not today. I went into the Geek Squad area where there was one person being helped at the counter, and I was the only one person in line waiting to get help. I’m a total tech Best Buy member.
The guy at the counter never acknowledged me while I was waiting. After the customer left I continued to wait as a professional courtesy as I realize there may be some paperwork to finish prior to being available to assist me as the next customer in line. At this point with no customer at the counter, the employee at the counter starts to talk into his speaker to another employee, and starts to converse with another employee in the service area. I still have not been acknowledged. When I am asked to come up, I tell him I have two matters as a total tech customer. He quickly tells me what they do there and appears to make an attempt to discourage me and get me away from his area. I was asking to set up an appointment to get my Apple Car Play purchased at Best Buy repaired. He was negative and abrupt and to me it was clear he did not want to help me. He lacked basic customer service skills, he was awkward, and he had no fundamental social skills. He needs a lot of work and shouldn’t be at the counter engaging with customers. Read moreWorst experience. I scheduled an appointment, brought my HP laptop in that was processing slow. When I got there, they have their service prices posted, which are PRICEY. The kid at the counter who obviously has more knowledge than I do with computers, was the LEAST BIT HELPFUL, if you want any information get ready to pull teeth! Unless you ask specific questions they aren’t giving any useful information other than recommending you pay for their service! Not to mention the kid LAUGHED IN MY FACE when asking him questions. I was recommended to get a solid state drive, after a tech in the back checked to see what was using so much memory he took the bottom of my laptop off to see if adding 8gb of RAM to the laptop would help. The recommendation for an upgrade to a SSD stuck. Not a cheap price either. I took my laptop home to think it over, the price I was quoted I might as well have gotten a new laptop! When I took my laptop out of my bag I noticed that THE TECH LOST A SCREW, so now there’s an open hole in the bottom of my laptop! The TECH BROKE THE RUBBER STRIP on the bottom, the other strip was also DAMAGED and not properly fitting back in place. THEY DID NOT INFORM ME THAT THEY DAMAGED MY DEVICE. Photos attached.
