Hello, Myself and my family have been loyal Stop and Shop customer for many years. I have never been one to write a review or complain when it comes to being a consumer, but Friday the 14th that all changed when myself and my wife had the worst shopping experience of our lives in the Long Beach New York s Stop and Shop. I'd like to start by saying my wife and I recently had a baby and our time is very limited, we had a babysitter and decided to food shop at around 830PM on 12/14/18. To speed up the process my wife Danielle and I each took a wagon and began shopping. When we were done shopping we made our way to the check out lines only to find that not a single aisle was open. That was the first eye opener and only the beginning of what was to come. We then had no choice to make our way to self checkout with two full wagons, unfortunately this was our only option. we proceeded to check ourselves out but ran into issues with the machine. The Stop and Shop employee named Maria B. Instead of doing her job and helping was sitting in a chair hanging out talking to a friend , when help was needed she started to give us an attitude. She then told me that i was not allowed to help my wife check out, as it should be one person, again we had two full wagons , there is a line of people behind us and limited space to operate and place our bags down , Marie then starts to yell at us about placing our bags to Close to the unchecked items basically accusing us of maybe trying to steal. That was when we finally lost patience with the situation, we said why don't you do this for us then Marie? That was turned down because she would actually be required to work. We were then forced by Marie to pack bags filled to the brim causing them to rip, because she didn't wanna have to assist us further with the machine nor remove bags from the tiny self check out work space . When the machine froze and Marie was needed she then refused to use her card to unfreeze the machine and allow us to continue, out of spite. Keep in mind this Is all happening with a line of YOUR STOP AND SHOP CUSTOMERS behind us, each customer more aggravated than the next that no one was working at any check out line. Another employee finally comes over to see what the issue is. After explaining to her what we were going thru with Marie she unfreezes the machine, but not before giving us a dirty look. She then joins Marie and starts bad mouthing us and the customers, loud enough for everyone to hear. Stating they shouldn't even be there, and asking each other how many people called out tonight? We finally finished bagging everything, spent close to $300 dollars and as we are leaving a bag rips, why wouldn't they after Marie forced us to do it that way. When we went to grab another bag Maries side kick said we can't have another bag without paying for it. I really hope action is taken. Again in all our years this was by far the worse shopping experience we have ever had. Once again, as new parents our time is limited, but I still felt I had to write to the stop and shop corporate office , going to the manager at the long beach store would not safice. I believe leadership is lacking in our location and it starts at the top. I could not just ignore what took place that night, not just for my own peace of mind, but for all of the long Beach customers. I expect more from our neighborhood...
ย ย ย Read moreEach trip I discover something new. Typically I shop TJs so I'm familiar with the flow of the store. Today I finally figured out where the hummus is stocked. I will attribute managing social distancing, fogging up my glasses wearing a mask, and other stressors to why my mind couldn't previously figure it out.
My new normal is shopping based on my sacral needs so I try to "hunt" for different things hence my discoveries. So far I loved stumbling on single pack frozen salmon. There's nothing like thawing out two pieces [TJs] like the ๐๐ dinner for one. ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ
Anyway, the floor is labeled one-way and I doubt people are present of mind so go with the flow. So far patrons have been respectful and not people policing azzhats. The shopping vibe is chill and patrons manage social distancing.
The store is clean and well stocked. The Starbucks inside is a plus though I haven't felt that at ease to order a drink while managing my personal circus of positioning my glasses over my mask to avoid fogging yet not smash my magnetic lashes while doing so. There's also my latex gloves, carring recycled bags, social distancing, and avoiding putting 10 crunchy snacks in my cart [self soothing] to manage.
When it's time to check out I've opted for self-serve for peace of mind. I'm glad no one is policing that area when I pull up with more than 20 items. I've found it difficult to avoid plastic bags while watching my items being rung up. Remember the store employee cannot touch your recycled bags then my anxiety kicks up self packing while another customer waits.
I think this was more journaling than store review. For other empaths I know it's just...
ย ย ย Read moreI have never had an issue at the Long Beach Stop N Shop before. Been shopping there many years. Yesterday I purchased a pre sliced package of German bologna from the Deli Department that was cut on the 6/11, purchased on 6/13. When I got it home and opened it for lunch for the family it smelled bad, it was slimy and it was discolored around the edges. In other words it was rotten. So I had to come up with another lunch plan for the family. Having other things to do today , I had to make a trip back to the store with the rotten bologna, customer service said to go to the Deli and just tell them to cut me the same amount of bologna again as an exchange. I believe it was probably the Manager of the Deli Dept. asked me what was wrong with the bologna, I explained and the Manager argued with me with an attitude that the bologna was not rotten, this is German bologna and thatโs how it is. And no matter what I said she kept it up and insisted on how the lighting they use in the cases makes it look like that. I am a Chef and I know food VERY well and the Germans would be insulted if they knew you presented their bologna as discolored, rotten smelling and slimy. The bologna was rotten! And โthe customer is...
