Would give this beach 4.5 stars. It only loses 0.5 stars because parking is a nightmare. I HIGHLY recommend getting here as early as possible. I arrived at 10 AM and was lucky enough to find a park spot. There are free street parking along the entire West Broadway Street, but you may need to drive down several blocks to find a spot. Make sure you drive slow so you don't miss and lose your spot.
The beach itself is so clean! The sand is a light tan color with little to no trash! Be careful, though, as there are mussel shells scattered through the beach. Arrive early as well because the majority of the beach-goers show up around 11:30 AM. There are still tons of spots, but more choices the earlier you come.
The ocean is also perfect at this time. The water is not freezing, but not warm. I would prefer it colder though. The waves are kind of small and weak in the morning, getting bigger and stronger around 1 PM. There is a large line of mussel shells as you enter the water, but as you get further in, the sand is much cleaner with little shells of discomfort.
Highly recommend! Just make sure you purchase a beach pass ($15 for non-residents). These can be purchased online via QR code at each ramp entrance or at designated...
Read moreOf all the beaches in the world, Long Beach is known to have the cleanest, softest sand of them all. Day or night, the well lit 2-mile boardwalk ride alongside the beach is also spectacular. Most everything in Long Beach is within walking / running / biking distance, and there are local buses that continuously run east to west through town & the LIRR is a convenient 4O minute train ride to the city. Long Beach has a welcoming sense of community, a variety of restaurants offering international cuisine & a robust social calendar of events (many free) scheduled throughout the year. All in all, it's a great little beach town..& with waves to boast about, a surfers dream! Note: The downsides are the extreme shortage of parking spaces & how expensive it's become to live there due to the towns growing popularity. (Written by a...
Read moreOne of the cleanest, prettiest, quieter, less crowded beaches in the NYC area. It’s a train ride from most parts of NYC or an easy drive on the highway. There is a $15 fee to get in if your not a resident, this makes it so it’s not as crowded. Grab a sandwich or snack from one of the local delis before you get to the beach. They used to be strict on no alcohol in years past so the beach police used to look out for people drinking from beer bottles/cans. I went last week and saw lots of people with corona and white claws I’d bring a plastic cup to pour into just yo be safe if your bringing Booz. Either way your gonna fam have a blast love this beach and go stop at Ralph’s...
