I recently visited Toast coffee and kitchen with a group of friends after hearing glowing recommendations from our parents. They had seen photos online and were convinced we’d have a fantastic time. However, our experience turned out to be a frustrating lesson in how crucial service is to a dining experience. To start, we underestimated the wait time. We expected a few minutes typical of a busy diner but found ourselves waiting an absurdly long time just to be seated. As we stood there, watching other diners enjoy their meals, our anticipation turned into impatience. After finally getting a table, we had high hopes that the food would make up for the inconvenience, but sadly that wasn’t the case. Once seated, we were left waiting again. It took what felt like an eternity for a server to come by and take our drink orders. That excitement quickly turned to disappointment as we still didn't have any water at our table. It felt like a basic expectation for any diner, yet somehow they consistently dropped the ball. Unfortunately, it only continued to go downhill. The wait for our food was just as long as the wait for drinks. Conversations around the table turned to frustration as we wondered if we would ever get our meals. What should have been an enjoyable outing quickly devolved into a long, unfulfilling ordeal. Our server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. We had to wave them down for the simplest requests, and by the time we received our check, we were just ready to leave. The overall ambiance of the restaurant, which we had hoped would be warm and cozy, felt more chaotic and disorganized instead. When the food finally arrived, it was a letdown. I’ve had better meals at far smaller diners with far better service. The dishes lacked flavor and creativity, leaving us all feeling underwhelmed. We’d built up a certain expectation, and it felt like the diner didn’t even come close to delivering on it. In conclusion, our experience at Toast has left us feeling disappointed and frustrated. From the excessive wait times to the lackluster service and uninspired food, it’s safe to say we will not be returning. If you’re seeking a diner experience, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of better options that value their customers’ time and provide a satisfying meal. Save your time and money – this place is just...
Read moreSo we ordered from Toast Coffee House today. To be delivered through Uber Eats from Long Beach to Oceanside! This is our second time ordering, because the first time we were pleased. However today's order went like this. Specifically my order.... Avocado BLT omelette made into skillet with French fries and rye toast well done. With a short stack classic pancake and added fresh blueberries for an up charge of .75¢. As you can see in the pictures I was given 4 dices of avocado seems odd considering the name of this meal starts with avocado. The description of Bacon is crispy however it was maybe 1 slice of flabby fatty bacon. 1 Leaf of spinach and maybe a tablespoon of tomato. The cheese was almost undetectable. The rye toast was a single slice cut into 2 pieces. Last time I checked....well toasted doesn't mean burnt to charcoal. The French fries aren't in the picture because I had to separate them from the "omelette skillet" that was just thrown on top of the fries ...so I air fried them to make them edible again. Now to the pancakes....I understand.75¢ isn't a lot of an upcharge but to put 5 blueberries in the container is really pathetic. So I've thought about it and I have pondered the idea, what should I truly expect when ordering delivery food. My conclusion is if you are a restaurant that is offering food through delivery, shouldn't it be at the same standard as if I was dining in. At $28.25 just for the food itself.... obviously not including tax tip and the premium of delivery. I expect those charges for the premium service. I can't believe you as a restaurant would have such little pride in the food you serve your community...
Read moreReally disappointed today. Went with my best friend for breakfast we sat at the bar because the wait was 1.5hours. We luckily got a seat in 15 minutes and waited 25 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and clean the table. We asked several workers to give us menus and clean the table and the bartenders just kept forgetting we were even there. When the bartender finally took our order he looked annoyed to clean the table. I totally understand that when it is busy its hard on the workers but its not fair for the customers to feel their tension and negativity. We waited one hour and 4 minutes for our food. I know because I timed it. No one came over during this time to apologize or even offer an extra coffee on the house. At the one hour mark I asked to speak to the manager who said he would check on it for us. He did finally bring it out but the food was cold and I told him that. Again, no compensation was offered. When the bill came, I had to personally ask if they would compensate for the wait. One of the bartenders who wasn't even taking care of us tried to ask a different manager for us which was nice of her. The waiter who was serving us ended up taking 5$ off the meal only after the other bartender set that ball in motion for us... I am honestly shocked with how the service was and lack of attention to customer service. I do not plan on coming back for at least a few months because I do not feel like they care about the people of long beach. I work for a business and I know I would never treat my clients, let alone people in general with the carelessness...
