We arrived at 7am. Lot was full by 8:15 am and closed. Great location Lot 1. Walk up the sidewalk and you're in the park. Pack a cooler. Not many options. Visitors center has a cafeteria on bottom level with gift shop and restrooms. Cafe does not open early and couldn't find breakfast anywhere close. Expensive tourist prices. Most people picnicked out of their cars in this lot. Dog friendly. We had our Beagle with us and walked around to goat Island and saw the other falls. It was a nice walk. It gets very crowded after 8:30 am with busses arriving. Enjoy the early morning photos. Parking cost us $15 for the day. No overnight parking allowed here. Patrolled by local law...
Read moreTHE PARKING LOT is free to park from 8pm-7:30am, I entered at 6:30am and stayed there until 9am and I never paid or got a ticket. Its a short walk to see the American Falls, but a long walk to see the main falls. I love walking so I had no problems, but if you don't enjoy it then I would recommend parking lot #2 for the best views of the falls. The advantage of parking lot #1 is the very short WALK across the bridge to Canada, I had no idea this was a thing but walked over there to save $$ to not have to park my car ober there. Passport is required to visit Canada and $1 - IN QUARTERS - is also required per person when returning back to the US, going to the Canada...
Read moreParking lot states free first couple of minutes, but charges you the full $30 dollars. This is a scam. When you call in then lie stating it is written every where but its not. If you enter in front of the visitor center you do not see any sign stating this and are force to pay or get towed. I recommend using the two free lots and walking (it a walk but at $30 for 24 hours when you are only there for 5 -10 minutes is not worth is). This makes me not want to come back to this area.
Update: after calling and complaining, the lady on the phone told me it was up to the manager. Took a while, but they did refund me the whole amount. Guess I can’t be...
