Horrid. Horrible. Bad. This place embarrasses me as an American. I apologize to anyone that makes a special trip to Niagara Falls because we sure fumbled the ball on this one. Side note Darien Lake is awesome and not that far away. Google it. Crowded, tourist trap, poor management of people and traffic. From all the road construction and empty buildings maybe it will be cool in like 10 years? I freaking hope so. I can imagine this place with streets like Gatlinburg Tennessee, packed with all kinds of cool and funky regional themed shops and weird Adirondack themed stuff that is cool. Rooftop pools with glass observation decks overlooking the falls. Maybe a waterpark and themepark with rides swooping over the falls! Right now though, lines to go down under the falls and maid of the most are atrocious! It's the internet age people lets fix this with technology. An app that can schedule your whole visit to the falls to reduce wait times. More elevators or stairs or something down into the falls so it's not such a clustered mess getting down there. Read moreI am a Type A personality/big planner when we travel to new places, but for some reason Niagara Falls was just a little difficult to research! We stopped into the visitor center on our first day in Niagara Falls and were met by Dan who was SO incredibly helpful!! The visitor center was the perfect place to find out what was open, how to obtain tickets, and learn about local fun spots like BlackBird Cider Works (highly recommend taking the drive!)!
The best part was that we got a honeymoon capital of the USA certificate because we were on our honeymoon :) thanks to Dan for leading us to have one of the best trips we’ve ever taken.
If Dan’s boss sees this, I hope you give him a raise because he is wonderful!!!! He was by far the nicest person we met during our entire trip to western NY and Niagara Falls! Thank you...
