I tried to purchase a couple things, and when I mentioned I didn’t have a phone number with them but I said no because I’m not from the area and that was my first time there, the guy asked for my ID which I understand is part of his job. But he held it level to my face, and when I explained it was an old photo from high school (the DMV told me I didn’t need to change the photo when I renewed my license to get my 21+ ID last year June 2024), he refused me service. What’s worse he didn’t even try to scan it. I don’t know if they don’t have that machine, but if the workers can’t tell a real ID from a fake then maybe they should invest in one. It’s frustrating that my legitimate ID was turned down especially since I turned 22 this past June. We often frequent Bongzos in Walton and are always given a friendly greeting and an informative helping hand. We were told that Area 51 in Oneonta was a related shop to Bongzos. We went in to Area 51 today and we were not greeted with kindness. The gentleman was rude and unhelpful even after letting him know we frequent the Walton shop. It was a very unpleasant experience and we hope the owner can advise their staff on how to deal with the public more appropriately for better future...
