I met James while I was in college at Oneonta thru a mutual friend and I had always thought his work was amazing! Years later I was able to get my first real big tattoo and he did FABULOUS (as expected). He created the design from scratch by looking at flowers in a book, helping me choose ones that fit with the skull he drew from a replica in his own shop. Translated it onto my arm and made magic happen! I get compliments all the time on this piece. I went back again a year and a half later (two months ago) and added on a real anatomical heart with flowers. This completed the half sleeve. BOTH TIMES.. he was able to get everything done in 3-4 hours. So you have skilled and efficient. He’s also great company and always strikes a good conversation. I love the shop as well! Comfy and unique - so much to look at! I also have one of his butterfly portraits- so cute! He is worth the time and the money, especially since a tattoo is with you forever! I don’t want anyone else to do work on my body! He’s also isn’t a long wait time he does well with scheduling clients appropriately and because he’s the only one in the shop you don’t have to deal with other people it’s just you and him! James is a wonderful person and incomparable artist. After a decade-long hiatus from tattoos—owing to a lack of inspiration—a concept James posted to his socials immediately spoke to me, and six days later I was making the journey to Wolfhound Studios. Located within the vibrant downtown of Oneonta NY, his space is unequivocally the most calm, inviting, peaceful, and restful space I have ever been tattooed in. Unlike larger studios with multiple artists, rooms, and lots of client traffic—it was just he and I. I have never literally been the only client and sole focus of a tattoo studio before—and that truly made for a unique tattooing experience that facilitated the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere therein. I’ve been getting tattooed by James for maybe over a decade at this point. His skill, creativity, and dedication to the craft are unmatched. Every piece he’s done for me is thoughtful, beautifully executed, and built to last, and I’m proud to have several of his original artworks hanging in my home, too. If I had a dollar for every compliment I’ve gotten on a tattoo James has done, I could probably afford another tattoo.

What sets him apart is that even after all these years, he’s still pushing himself to grow as an artist. He never phones it in.
