I am not affiliated with Ozzy's and have never needed real car work since I've leased cars and know very little about cars myself. But I am writing this because I just had a great experience at Ozzy's and wanted to share to let you know you may also have a similar experience.
I recently bought a Carvana car and if you've been through the process of online car buying you know it's essential to get a PPI (thorough pre purchase inspection during the 7 days post purchase when you're able to return or switch out your car with no penalty since they often try to sell flood cars and salvage cars... also during this 7 day window is when the Carvana silver rock warranty company is inclined to cover repairs they would normally decline to cover since they really want you to keep the car.
The car is a BMW x1. I had it first looked at by an Indy BMW shop who charged me $335 for an inspection and told me I needed random stuff and fluids flushed and an oil change and that he saw some water intrusion in the back but couldnât tell from what and that it wasnât worth asking the warranty company silver rock to cover any of it - even though he was contracted with them and j was supposed to receive the car fully serviced - because tired and fluids and the labor needed to take the headliner off wasnât âimportant enough stuff.â Despite what I read and showed him on fora online.
Went to Ozzyâs for a second opinion the next day because I felt certain he was incorrect about stuff I think he got by just reading the carfax, not even by looking. Worked with Matteo who is a sweetheart- great at customer service and knowledgeable (even about BMWs, which tends to do better when serviced at a bmw dealership or specialty shop). Matteo knew all about the silver rock process, did a thorough PPI for no charge at all - and let us know that besides the water mark and a nail in one of the tires, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car. It was a gem of a purchase and seemed baby-ed. He was clear we didnât need any of the random stuff the bmw shop wanted to charge me for directly. He actually looked at all the fluids and said that they were good as new and that Carvana must have just done them - even though the carfax didn't reflect so. He wasn't gonna recommend work that didn't need to be done just to make a few extra bucks.
He said if we could bring the car back when he had more time, he'd check out the water marks under the headliner, flush out the drains / tubing and check all the seals since I am terribly afraid of mold growing under the headliner or anywhere in a car with so much rubber and so much drain tubing, especially where we saw water leaking. He assured us he would make claims for the tire and the leak fix if needed with silver rock warranty and push them to cover the cost of all of it we needed at the outset so we wouldn't have to pay a dime more for an already big purchase.
We brought it back the next day and they quickly tackled all of it as we waited there and let us know he filed a request for 4 new tires with silver rock since they were old and mismatched with one leaking from a nail . he asked them to cover any labor cost for the drain fixing. He also took the time to explain how to maintain and keep an eye on our drains in the BMW to make sure no other issues arise. He gave us other maintenance tips- and again all at no charge for us.
I will go back to get my new tires soon and to have any general maintenance done on our good as new car. Ozzy's and Matteo proved to me the business is trustworthy and generous - respectful of my time and really helpful for someone new to owning a German car and wanting to learn. Highly...
Read moreIf no stars were possible, Iâd have chosen that. Brought in my pristine 2015 SUV in at 12:40pm on a Saturday to patch a tire with a nail in it, was told by the woman behind the counter it would 20 to 30 minutes...
Specifically asked if they had the equipment to unmount a tire from newer vehicles with lipless design factory wheels, was told âYes, they but there was no guarantees they wouldnât nick the wheel in the processâ. A ânickâ or so on the wheel is certainly acceptable due to whatâs required in the removal process of the tire from the rim.
So one hour later they finally bring the car in and put it up on the lift & remove the wheel in need of patching. An hour and a half later the vehicle is still up on the lift with the wheel removed... At the two hour mark I asked the same woman behind the counter when I could expect the car to be done, to which I was advised â20 minutes of so, as they have to remove the tire from the rim to patch it...â. I reminded her she told me 20 to 30 minutes 2 hours ago. She then corrected me indicating she initially said it would take 20 to 30 minutes to get the car in. When I gave her the car keys there was absolutely no mention of âgetting the car inâ. I explained that she never said that when I gave her the keys, to which she came back with a snotty/scarcastic reply, âWell next time Iâll say it louder!â. Umm, wow - strike one!
At 2:50pm they finally drive the vehicle out of the bay to their front parking lot, and sure enough when I go examine the wheel they worked on there are 2 large deep gouges/scratches in the previously pristine machined surface face of the rim. So much for having the right equipment if the technician simply doesnât care because itâs not his car heâs working on.
I then went inside to pay for the flat repair and advised the woman behind the counter of my dissatisfaction on the damage of the rim, but I never argued about paying them for the work they did. She ran my charge card and asked me to sign the charge card slip (which I did) and then handed me back the same slip I signed along with their work order receipt. A few moments later she was frantically looking for the slip, which I asked her if she meant the same slip she gave it back to me with the work order, yet again - another snotty /carsactic reply accusing me of picking it up from the counter. I advised her it was bad enough they damaged the rim, but that because of her now second snotty reply to me (the customer) that I will never bring any vehicle to Ozzyâs Auto Clinic. My biggest surprise was that a member of their management team (or possibly even the owner) was sitting in the background behind the counter for the last exchange from her but didnât feel the need to get involved.
While the tire patch may have been done correctly, the rediculous wait time combined with the not one, but two, snotty & scarcastic responses from their female desk agent completely soured my experience as an Ozzyâs customer.
If you donât mind risking damage to your vehicle and receiving poor treatment as a customer, feel free to have them work on...
Read moreATTENTION: DO NOT GO HERE
Okay, do I have your attention now? Let me explain the many, many reasons you should not go here. I brought my car to get inspected here several days ago, and ultimately my car was failed. They indicated that it failed due to the brakes, and since I know how to do my own brakes, I declined their services because I could replace them myself.
They weren't happy about that and pressured me to use them, but, again, I declined. Well, a verbal disagreement occurred and both sides were displeased. That's fine and dandy, but what they did because of that verbal spat was unreal!
After the yelling match and the dishonest assessment of my vehicle, this is what they did...
1.) They over tightened my brake screws into the caliper, cracking them. I had to get new caliper pins and hardware to even replace my own brakes.
2.) They broke my headlight bulb, so I had to buy a new one.
3.) They loosened my aftermarket amp fuse, resulting in the radio cutting in and out, and me having to self diagnosis and repair.
4.) They disconnected my battery so I had to drive around, waiting for the computer to reset to then pass inspection at a different location WITH NO INSPECTION sticker because they ripped the old one off.
5.) My lug nuts, holding the tire on, were not fastened and when doing my brakes I spun them off only using my fingers.
Ultimately, I fixed everything myself, being versed in vehicle maintenance, but god damn it, really? What if I couldn't fix all those problems? They sabotaged my vehicle, and put my safety into serious concern, over a disagreement about a failed inspection? Which by the way, they said my rotors had to be replaced, my tires too, when neither did. It's all about money here. And when you deny their services, your car will be messed with. Avoid...
