We purchased a power washer from this store as a Christmas gift for our son. As it turned out he already had one so we decided to return it. The box was unopened and its contents undisturbed. We were told that there was a $10 restocking fee when we asked for a refund. To be fair, this information is listed on the receipt as "a restocking fee may be applied", but the conditions for the charge are not listed.
Needless to say we were extremely disappointed that we were being charged $10 so that they could literally take the box and put it back on the stack display. The cashier told us that the fee is only waived if the item is defective. This absolutely flies in the face of logic. A defect requires paperwork and extra handling. A new return requires an almost instantaneous electronic transaction. Harbor Freight owns its own factories and I assume all its inventory. Had we claimed that the item was defective they would have incurred an immediate loss.
I have worked as a retail manager for over 40 years and in all that time I have encountered every refund scam known to man. I have never had to refuse a refund of a new item accompanied by a receipt, much less charge a "restocking fee".
The store staff have always been polite and they do not make these absurd policies. The "restocking fee" seems pretty bogus given the fact that Lowe's & Home Depot & nearly every other retailer in the universe don't engage in this blatant profiteering.
The items that Harbor Freight sells can be bought elsewhere. We will NEVER shop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Clarksville store.... omg. My husband and I have encountered the rudest in there. The rudest ive encountered was Dec 2016. I went in there around Christmas to get him a table saw. I had the ad but wasn't sure what was what. There were 2 that looked exactly alike but one was more money...neither were the price of the ad. The cashier literally huffed and puffed throwing her hands in the air shouting "I don't have time to look for it you're going to have to figure it out " I said ok. I'll just go to home depot. I haven't personally shopped there since. I went with my husband during this last tent sale. He purchased 5 items from the tent that were priced as a "managers special " for $4.99. They rang up $5.99. He told the cashier that they were in a managers special box for $4.99 and there were at least 10 more in there. This cashier who only spoke in an uncaring monotone just takes the items off the bill. My husband planned to purchase the items anyway as he needed the tools for a job. My husband is saying "I need those" and this guy is still voiding the sale in a robotic motion while mumbling to himself. It was very unprofessional. He will never shop there again as well. Evidently it's a crappy job becayse everytime I've been in there, the staff looks like they are absolutely hating life. It didn't used to be that way 4...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will first start by saying I truly love harbor freight. For bulk items like c-clips, cotter pins, rubber grommets, rivets, odds and ends. Maybe even an air tool from time to time. One Iām looking to purchase, honestly for a one off job and I can pick up reasonably. I, to this day have had great luck with almost everything I have purchased from the establishment. But Iāll be damned if Iām not gonna leave a review of this item! Longlife my A**. These cutting wheels are absolutely TRASH, and should be pulled from the shelf. QC must not be a concern for the company manufacturing them. Someoneās gonna get hurt really bad one of these days. I purchased these wheels because they looked to be their best and price the reflected, these were the better wheels. It was purchased only to cut ā1 bolt.ā When I went to cut said bolt with my grinder, the disks absolutely started to disintegrate on contact with the bolt!!! I know itās too late for a return, as 1 of the 10 have been used and youād think abused! You shouldnāt be selling trash that canāt even do its jobāš¼ time. Before use, it blatantly bragged on package about the 2x long life. Iāll most certainly be trashing the other 9, as I wouldnāt want to put my safety in jeopardy šš¼. The bolt to be cut was a 1/2ā in diameter š! Now the replacements (had to get elsewhere), to the replacements, they cut...
