Former graduate here from Prosser. For anyone interested in interactive media?? Don’t do it. I did that class in my Junior year at the height of Covid. Our original teacher was absent until the last couple of months. The first month we constantly juggled substitutes while going over Google programs? Not to mention none of us talked for a while until we received a permanent substitute who actually bonded with us and knew what she was doing. The test was fine besides the completely outdated programs and machinery. Things like Apple computers from the 90’s along with programs that aren’t used at all now in current times. But, all the great things went away when the original teacher came back. Mr. Sickles did nothing right with us. He undermined our lessons, didn’t heed any words from the substitute, and refused to let us peers look at our works to compare, contrast and get feedback. Not to mention any sort of creative freedoms we used to have went away as well, because of the fact that he didn’t understand most of the media we enjoyed too. Any sort of group work we did (while keeping Covid in mind) was downplayed. We weren’t allowed to go into the back rooms anymore to work on projects in silence either. In fact, he didn’t allow us to talk at all. He also pulled me aside one day to have me rat out my classmates and friends because they were being “unruly” or something similar. And yet that same evening he called my house and complained about my behavior and work ethic. When my family complained to admin (along with many of us students who made staff aware of how terrible he treated us) they would brush us off. It got to the point where people didn’t want to even be in the class anymore, and he even got security involved to yell at us about our “behavior” when he yelled at us. When talking about shadowing professionals or colleges, he belittled us more. Claimed to the admins that we “didn’t deserve” to shadow professionals even though he barely worked with us. Not to mention when talking about colleges and bringing up full sail, he bragged about his last classes and told us to not even try because he doubted any of us could get in to that school. He is not kind, nor a good teacher.
The only saving grace was the fact that I took culinary next year, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The class is amazing, but they fill up fast. That’s the only other complaint I have, is that if you decide to change classes for senior year, there are limited slots for each class. So if you don’t get in, you have to know what else to do. Either that or enjoy the original class you picked.
Prosser, do better. As students and parents have complained about this man, you have done nothing but downplay us as we are only “kids” and teenagers. When our mental healths did a nose dive because of this man, who made us hate coming into class, you did nothing. You encouraged this man to continually harass us, to the point we feared for our school lives and resorted to documenting what he did. In fact, re-listening to his voice and hearing him get on us for things we didn’t even do, brings back painful memories. He lied to you all about our behaviors. We always wore masks, we never were rude to him unless he was rude with us. That’s not called respecting a teacher, it’s called standing up for those of us who feared him or when he tried to silence us. Shame on you. Don’t even bother with trying to contact me about this post because none of you guys did anything before, and it proves that you’d only do so now to save your...
Read moreBoth years the teachers left half way through the year, dated and impractical, interactive media up until the instructor left we went over Microsoft office applications, already classes I had taken in primary school, and unrelated to the subject of the class, in addition to making hard sketches of designs we would photocopy to a computer, no modern marketing or design team would do so, the room being populated with non industry standard OOD equipment. We would also be given class material and told to do it and ask if we have questions, this is the equivilant of watching YouTube and figuring this all out yourself, why bother.
The programming class taught visual c# windows forms and we did jigsaw puzzles, not even close to industry expectation, c# is such a weird starting place as well, python or JavaScript would have made way more sense as they are both easier to understand and more relevant to people new to programming for people in our demographic, halfway through the year the instructor left just like last class and the program was inexplicably renamed computer science. We also took 2 weeks before even beginning the class curriculum to move rooms. Waste of students time.
This does not pertain to any other programs offered just my experience in the two I was a part of, you will be better off watching YouTube tutorials and self learning if you are considering the ones previously mentioned.
It's not a glowing review but growing young adults time and futures are serious.

Read moreMr. Hyde and the Entrepreneur class is absolutely the best! The first time we met him, his passion for education filled the room! He made me want to take the class! My daughter raves about him and loves telling me everything she's learned from him and the books she's been able to access while in his class. Absolutely one of the most important people in the area for our youth. Who also helps outside of his classroom! Thank you, Mr. Hyde, our family will always be grateful for you!...
