Warning long story and has to do with HOH (Hard of hearing) I have been to this theater a few times and never had really any issues usually has been clean and pretty friendly. Anyways my brother got me a gift card for my birthday and I wanted to see the new movie "Scary Stories to tell in the dark" when I bought the the tickets I asked for Hearing Assisted Headphones (they make the volume louder for people that have hearing loss) I have never asked for them at a Regal theater before. I filled out the paper work and recieved a pair. The man that assisted me said if I had any issues then to bring them back. No problem. I go into the theater and put them on, they are playing music, I have never had this happen but I thought maybe they were outdated headphones and they play music until the previews come on. Well the previews came on and still not playing the movie on the headphones only music. I then go wait in line for about 6-7 minutes and I let the same man know that the headphones dont seem to be working properly. He asked a manager or assistant manager to explain how the headphones work...which was a little odd but I then told her, she said that they dont work for the previews only the movie which was odd because at other theaters this was not the case but I said thank you and went back to my seat. The movie starts. My headphones then start playing previews for I'm assuming another movie. Which was odd because moments before I was told they dont play previews. Then I feel upset because now I have to miss the start of the movie and that's usually a pretty important part. I go back and this time I lay the headphones on the counter and I dont wait in line. Again the man asked if they worked I said no. 2 mangers come over and say they will fix them, they were polite but at this point I want to cry I feel like I am being a burden for something that shouldn't have been. I am missing the movie. She said to wait in the theater so I did and stood and waited about 5-10 minutes, later she brought me a different pair she made sure they worked and she said to come to the box office to get a free ticket after the movie. This is very nice and appreciated but I still feel sad and I think its because I'm not sure if the employees are trained to deal with this and I hope that regal takes the time to teach more about assisted hearing devices or the glasses for closed captioning or anything else that may be offered. I did enjoy the movie and the theater was pretty clean and comfortable but I cant help but feel like I was causing problems when I just wanted to be able to hear the movie like everyone else. At the end of the movie I returned the headphones and was given 2 free tickets to a later time. I appreciate the kindness I sure do hope that next time we come to this theater that the headphones work and that the employees will have more...
Read moreAbsolutely LOVE the local Phoenix New Albany 16 theater! They recently introduced a new promotion of $5.99 for every movie, every showtime, every day, including newly released high demand movies! We saved $35.50 for a family of 5 to see a high demand movie on a Saturday night that was just released yesterday. 🤩 All movies times on Tuesdays are only $5! The theater, lobby & restrooms were very neat & clean. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely courteous. They offer the options to purchase your tickets online or at the theater via several kiosks in the lobby. They do not have reserved seating to ensure a large party of family can sit together or as close together as possible if the theater is full for that showing. The theater itself was very large with a very large screen & premium sound quality. The seats seem to have been updated & were more comfortable than I remember them being last time I visited which was well over 2 years ago. There is a large game room with up to date & newer video games, as well as some awesome classics, air hockey, & claw machine games. There are also 2 very large party rooms that can be reserved for different events that were very well lit, updated, & looked very nice. We did not purchase any concessions this time however I did check out what they offered & was pleasantly surprised. The popcorn was fresh & smelled amazing, they offer a large selection of candy, fountain drinks, frozen soft drinks & more, for much cheaper than the newer mega theater complexes. They were advertising a free kids/family friendly movie summer program as well as a free PG-13 & more summer movie program that boasted some very good movie titles. They also offer a rewards program on their website. I have not signed up yet to be able to comment on what it offers, but will update once I have signed up. Will most definitely be returning to this theater again for all of our movie going experiences! Thank you...
Read moreWe recently visited this theater for the first time for a Fathom Event. Sadly, the event (35th Anniversary of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) was terribly under-attended.
The drive from Jeffersontown to get to the theater wasn't bad at all, and parking (it was a Thursday, 7pm showing) was easy because I don't think there were 20 cars in the parking lot. I wouldn't drive it on a routine basis because I passed several theaters on the way, but this is where this Fathom event was taking place.
I get the feeling this cinema (which opened in 2003) was one of the nicest facilities in the era, but internally it hasn't aged well. The outdoor aesthetic is still contemporary but the inside feels a bit aged. More specifically, the hallway leading to the theaters and the theaters themselves. Aside from the theater we were going to be sitting in printed on our ticket and the ticket-taker telling us we were going to #11, we would have no way of knowing which theater we were heading to. There is no signage (or maybe it wasn't working) in that hallway telling us what film was in what theater.
The theaters themselves are smartly designed with stadium seating so that unless you're sitting behind someone REALLY tall or Marge Simpson, nothing will obstruct your view. The seats themselves, though, definitely show signs of age. Not only are they kind of low to the ground, but the leather looks tired and worn out. The seats could use an update. They aren't really cushiony. I found the audio presence to be pretty lacking, as well.
This, sadly, wasn't a high turnout event, but we still enjoyed the movie (although we'd seen it many dozens of times). The staff was friendly and the popcorn was fresh. The tankard (WHY did I order a large drink?) of Pepsi hit the spot.
Not a bad experience, but the place could be...
