As much as I would like to like this store, I already know I will not find myself here often. While they offer a wide selection of niche brands, most college students really aren’t looking for a speciality store—it’s much worth the walk to Dave’s on Fairmont for a wider selection and better prices. Even Constantino’s had a wider variety of products.
While the kitchen is fast, and Case Western students can use meal swipes here, I would caution those who cannot do this about ordering food from the kitchen. It’s simply not worth your value. The burgers are around 7 dollars without additional toppings. I found the burger to be the best value and quite filling —fries do not come with the burger and are an additional 4 dollars. I would say you receive the equivalent to, if not less than, a small fry at McDonalds, and for that reason burgerim is definitely a better value for your money. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, just good to know. The fries weren’t particularly good or bad—fulfilled my expectation of a french fry. The mac and cheese is definitely a skip, I was pretty convinced I was eating plain pasta. Though I’m sure some people like that.
This all being said as a student at Case Western, I wish I could say this was the caliber of food that we having in the dining hall, but unfortunately it is not. This is probably one of the best meal swipe options on campus. Sadly this is not in any way an asset to the community and is not accessible to a lot of people in the area—with such high prices. I wish the university and the meal plan provider thought about this more and realized that their responsibility isn’t just to case western students but to the community. Uptown isn’t just a place for case western students, it’s for the...
Read moreTerrible selection and prices of everything. Except for the ridiculous selection of beer/wine, but you won't be able to find the rest of the Ingredients you need for any kind of mixed drink. I went in for an orange a few weeks ago, there were none. What kind of grocery store doesn't have a single orange in the entire building. Oh then there was the time I went to grab a last minute birthday cake from there about a year ago figured I grab a box and just make one, you can get a Duncan Hines box for like two dollars at most stores... Eight dollars and it was some weird brand, there weren't any of the regular options, like Betty crocker. Eight dollars for a BOX CAKE. 🤦 I went to the cake place (Kake Kutters) down the street and supported that business instead. Every single time I've went there to pick up one or two items, I ended up leaving empty handed. This is a store that is on a college campus in the middle of one of the poorest areas in Cleveland and is supposed to be geared toward providing convenience to the students. Big fail. Worst of all, the coffee in their little cafe or whatever, is horrible. Go to The Coffee House in UC instead. It's worth the...
Read moreAs someone who has to follow a more strict diet due to health reasons (eating mainly gluten free, dairy free and pescatarian) I am more inclined to checking out "health" centered grocery stores like this one for options that better suit me. I stepped foot in here the other day and was shocked. "Health" food is already high priced, and somehow these prices were even more insane. I ended up spending almost $8 on a granola bar and an iced tea... I could've walked over to any other food vendor on Euclid and spent that much on an entire meal. I am thankful to own a car/have other options when it comes to a primary grocery store. I'd much rather drive twenty minutes to Trader Joe's and find a lot more options for a much cheaper price. It's hard to appreciate some of the options this store provides when the prices are unthinkable. Again, it's nice to have a place to stop for some fruit/granola bars to snack on during class breaks, but this is not at all accessible/sustainable to almost anyone...
