Another visit to Dollar Tree. It was restocking time. They were out of certain items: letter-sized envelopes, notebook paper. No doubt, due to the many people working from home/being home schooled.
As I mentioned in a prior post.... There were many boxes in the isles. Again, making the isle-space cramped. Still--as I also said in that prior post--its a chance to show kindness, patience, and generosity by letting others get by. Including using our words like, "Thank you." "Do you need to get here?" "Let me back up/move over so that you can pass..". "You're welcome.". And, you (usually) hear the same thing in return. What an even bigger "bonus" to saving some dollars! Right?
This kindness benefits the giver as well as the receiver. How? Because being--unnecessarily--rushed triggers the selfishness button. Even if you need to rush, kindnesses make for a better shopping experience. If we arrived at the store with some "ugly" already in our day--or life--yielding to it just makes it worse for the "carrier," and those on the receiving end of a bad attitude. Who needs it? Nobody.š
In a visit a few days earlier, the freezer section had been taped off so that most of it could not be shopped--except for two/three section doors closest to the toilet paper shelves. On this visit, you could see why. The shelves had been thoroughly cleaned, and they shined like new. What a BIG plus. Before this, they were grossly dirty. Hope they do this regularly. To me, imho, the $1.00 price is that much better, when the products are not sitting on sludge-sticky-and-dirty shelving. What do you think/feel about it?
Also, everyone had masks. The store personnel, and the customers. Store staff were very proactive, respectful, and professional about asking customers to "mask up" when they entered the store. The staffer would sound a "ding, ding" bell, calmly look at the person, and say aloud at a reasonable volume: "Please put on your mask.". They did not throw shade by pointing to/calling out, "Hey! you.". Customers did as they were respectfully being requested. It's a wonderful thing to see mutual respect in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDollar store visit. I Lā¤ļøVE $1.00 prices. They did have a few bare shelves that day. That's to be expected with the newest COVID-19 surge in numbers taking place. However, they had everything I came to buy.
The staff is courteous. The lines that day were toward the rear of the store. It's not always that way. They were getting people--even with some having many items/full carts--through the lines pretty quickly. But Christmas shopping and pandemic purchasing causes that to happen when you have waves of people at the same time. It's good to remember that your dollars go a LOT further though. After all, a person can choose to go spend at the nearby Safeway or Walmart--but why pay triple price š°šµš°--and still run into long lines elsewhere?
Just as a passing FYI.... This store is not neat, and often stocking boxes are on the isle floors. The ones working the registers are the same ones that have to try to restock the shelves with any spare minutes they get between shoppers. So you have to squeeze by in the narrowed isle space. If someone is coming up the isle from the opposite end, I gladly wait for them to come by in the open space--or even back up to let them pass. It feels good to have a little patience. Maybe a š smile? Medical science found out that smiling does the giver as much good as the receiver. For me, it doesn't matter about the cluttered isles. I'm saving and stretching my šµ; and that's what I came to do.
Stay safe,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Sally's beauty supply store, and I think that's the name of the store. It is located next to the dollar store. The cashier was the only person inside. I wasn't familiar with a product that I was told to get. I asked her for a recommendation. She was nonchalant and said a mousse is a mousse. That's all the help she provided. She didn't assist me any further. "Poor customer services. This was on 12/10/23. She shouldn't be working in a store where she's not knowledgeable of the product or doesn't want to assist customers. Treat people the exact way you want to be treated. I left out, and the store lost a sale due to her nonchalant attitude. I then went to Walmart. The lines were extremely long. I saw a short line. I stood there, and the cashier looked up and said I'm closed after him. Only a few registers were open, and self checkout was wrapped around the store. Ridiculous and unexceptable. It's the holidays and all the registers should be open. Both stores got a zero...
