My spouse and I came here to buy five frames for some old screen printed rock and roll posters from our favorite shows. Each poster, being a unique piece by a different local artist, was a different size. But we prepared by measuring our art in advance, and we brought a list along with us.
When we arrived, I was very pleased to see a rack of what appeared to be mystery gift bags decorated with alphabet letters that said "Help Yourself." My partner, however, told me that they were for curbside pickup, so I let them be, not without great disappointment.
After searching a while, we found a range of picture frames all the way at the back mostly left corner of the store--back behind the clearance items.
The frame selection was okay, but not super impressive, and many of the options (like much of the store) bordered on that trend of being overly designed and "antiqued" in appearance--a scourge that's plagued the US home decor market ever since it reared its ugly head as "shabby chic" in the late 90's.
But we were looking for middle-range prices on frames that had decent durability, and did find a good buy-one get-one deal on some nice basic, heavy, glossy black $20 frames that were the right size for a couple of our posters.
Unfortunately we had a list of 5 posters to frame, and were only able to find 2 frames in the right size. After searching high and low for other frames that might fit our posters, we gave up, realizing that Hobby Lobby and its frame section was mostly designed for the kinds of decorations that people make from standard digital photography, or that they receive from graduation picture days and sport teams.
I should note here that Hobby Lobby also offers custom framing services, which appeared to range around $100. This was not appropriate to our budget or goals.
When we went to check out from the fairly empty store, we were greeted by a pleasant worker whose teammate was a bit distressed about which registers had their lights on or off. Our friendly checkout worker asked if we found everything okay, and my spouse said "no." Unruffled, she continued professionally with her script and asked if we wanted to give our zip code. "No." Or put in our number for rewards points? "No." My partner paid and she started to bag our two frames, while complimenting my necklace, and then asked if we wanted a bag. "No." We handed her plastic bags back, and headed home with 2/5 frames we were seeking. Outside our van, someone had spit out a Cremesaver which I had noticed for sale by the register when we had been inside Hobby Lobby.
The two posters we managed to get framed up do look great!
Oh, whoops, forget this review. I meant to post that we went to Michael's on Colerain because Hobby Lobby is a horrible store that discriminates against marginalized people and isn't even open on Sunday.
Hobby Lobby gets one star and I hope it messes up their ratings.

Read moreI love this store, HOWEVER I have never been more disappointed! I asked my husband to come into the store one day while he was waiting for me in the parking lot because I needed him to measure the furniture I was considering purchasing. He had just gotten of work and was dirty and tired. He works outside and is always covered in oil and grease and is always wearing coveralls boots and cathart coat. From the moment he walked in this lady that worked there stared following him. I didn't think anything about it at first but it became clear that in her I opinion his kind wasn't welcome. I was offended and was just about to confront her but before I could she walks up to my husband and a asked him to leave. Without any reason. I asked her why she asked him to leave and she said we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime. Instead of losing my mind I decided to be an adult and try to understand her thought process. I asked her very nicely one more time."mamn would you mind giving me a little more detail as to why on earth you would ask him to leave the store? She says that he just looks like he's up to no good. NOW MIND YOU I HAD JUST SPENT OVER $900 THE DAY BEFORE ON FURNITURE AND WAS THERE TO GET THE REST OF THE SET I WAS SO EXCITED TO GET. IN TOTAL OVER $1,300 IN FURNITURE THAT MY WAS Mediocre at best. So I did what any self respecting woman would do and brought all the damn furniture back the same day to the same girl and told her that I would no longer be purchasing these items because they "just looked like they are going to be problems." Wouldn't you know that three days after this incident her and her boyfriend showed up at my husband's business and was a asking him for a job.. amazing how...
Read moreLove it when inventory gets changed out! Not only for the 75% off for the old items or items that are coming back in with either higher prices or a label update... But to see the new products too. However, I can't give them 5 stars any more. The CEO promised more items would be on sale when they discontinued their weekly coupons. There are many items that NEVER go on sale. Plus in many departments within the store they divided products to have different store brands, from the other main brand or removed the store brand name from the products all together, meaning again depending on which store you shop, it's either included or it's not - which also means, that again more items never go on sale. One however, is - if it's on sale on their website, they will match it, if the product has the same exact item numbers as what is in the store. Now some managers will match on label image, name & size of product, but others will insist that the item numbers have to match as well. I'm surprised that the stores give so much attention to a product that's exactly the same and SHOULD definitely match the sale prices on their website with the products in their stores... After all, whether you're buying from their website or in their store your money goes to the...
